Thanks, DV...always two sides (or more in this case) to every story. Never should have got to this point, but it is good to know Mr. Big (CS) is doing his part (or more)...
I just hope we can say "all's well that ends well"...

I would still love to see a guarantee in writing from the parties that be that this car will be finished by the 15th.......With nothing in writing, it does not make a difference who speaks with CS or FL or anyone else for that matter...Far to much bull as been flung with this car already, if CS was so involved (as he states that he is/was), then why was this situation allowed to get so far out of hand in the first place ...I have deep respect for him as a person, but not as a corporate leader any longer...The bottom line is to get this car done, and get it done now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!........As usual, and especially in this case, only time will tell.
Just my pre-caffienated two cents worth..............
Bill S.
PS: I left two messages for CS when this first started, as a long time Shelby owner (let's just say I've owned a few), and active SAAC member.......Did I ever get a return call, no, perhaps because I don't have the big bucks any longer, or perhaps because he thought this was all going to go away on it's own........Spin doctors can now have at it....................

Let me see if I'm the ONLY one missing this:
Carroll Shelby personally calls Dwayne and offers to finish Dwayne's car, to personally assure it will be completed properly and Dwayne decides to leave the car with the same guy that has provided a rectal reaming for 26 months?
It must be the chemo.

Dan,
That's exactly what I was thinking, why would you leave the car, when CS offers to finish..... or the Kirkhams for that matter....doesn't make sense.

Yep. It's like that girl you date that is totally wrong for you, and all your friends know it and try to tell you, but you are blinded by love/lust and stay with her anyway.
I'm happy to see this situation goes all the way to the "top" now. But the fact still remains that it's all talk until delivery day. And that day is exactly one week away. I hope they make it and Dwayne gets to drive his car before is no longer able to do so.

Bill,
If he only had a "written guarantee" all of this stuff could have been avoided... Your kidding right?

Kris,
I would say a swing by Finishline might be a good test of assessing if the car will be done. My thoughts are that with the deadline a week away, someone SHOULD be working on the car on a Saturday, maybe Sundays too.

Re Carroll
I too spoke to Carroll yesterday on othe issues but, I can say he is certainly gracious and fully aware of everything happening around him.

Let's not be to quick to judge what happened with Roy and Finish Line. None of us apparently know the whole story and the buyer apparently trusts Roy for reasons not posted here. I know Roy has done great work in the past and will continue to. He is also the only dealer in the Shelby chain that basically threw away many of the stock suspension pieces of the 4000 series and made his own in order to make the cars truly track worthy when the rest were building street bombers and trailer queens.
I also spoke to Roy yesterday and that car will be done by next week.

Steve,
Get over it..
Some people DON'T want this car finished. Nothing will bring this to a conclusion until Carroll deleivers the car to Dwayne. Even then it is questionalble...
How was Kirkhams going to finish this car, not knowing what was missing? What were they going to use for a motor?
Some people's agenda's got derailed, sorry..
The guy wanted a Shelby, not a Kirkham. He is comfortable with the car remaining where it is.. Why still the heckling?

why don't think that the kirkhams have both the abilities and or parts resources to complete the build of the car that shelby bought from them to begin with? how would it not be a csx car if they completed the build, it still has a "csx" serial number. there are a few people who have ordered component vehicles from shelby so that they can complete them themselves, does that mean a "component" car from shelby is NOT a "csx" car?
p.s. i only capatalized "not" because i know how much it irritates you that i don't capatalize.......

Let me get this straight.....If FL builds the car with all the pieces they have, including the engine that is already done, then it's a Shelby.....but if Kirkham builds the car with all the pieces that are there, including the engine,....then it's not a Shelby??
That's kinda like saying all the SPF owners that have someone put an engine in for them, other than the dealer, don't have SPF's

It doesn't irritate me when you don't "capatalize", it should irritate your elemantary school teachers when they see how you STILL can't spell.
"Why don't I think cKirkhams couldn't complete the car"? I imagine they could. I wasn't concerned about that.
How was the engine that wasn't paid for was going to be secured. Were Kirkhams going to have to write check to the engine builder for $40,000 to release the engine?
Did Kirkhams know what all parts and pieces were missing? Did they have all the Shelby gauges and other propreitery parts in stock to finish this car?
That is why I was questioning the wisdom of taking the car to Provo, and reliefing the obliged from their responsibility of finishing a job they had agreed to and got paid for.
Remember one thing, as nice a gesture as it may have appeared, this wasn't about Kirkhams, it was about Dwayne , his car and Roy Hunt as well as Shelby's responsibility in getting the car DONE.
You and in the future (I'm sure) will have ample opprtunity to compare what Kirkhams are capable of and what they are not.
Out of respect to all parties concerned, let's leave it at that.

Steve,
Yes, I know.
Ron,
I was expecting JM to see my post and call today, guess he missed it .
Turk,
I'm not bashing, just adding my observations from the east coast, all based on what has been posted in this thread to date.

Guys,
I know my opinion isn't worth much in this situation as I don't know any of the parties involved but I'm sure there are others following this thread that feel the same as me. Below are just my opinions so take them for what they're worth:
I'm glad CS is involved. I don't know if it'll help get the car completed by the 15th but it sure won't hurt.
I think the Kirkham's offer was a sign they are a class act.
I am hopeful Dwayne's car will be finished on the 15th.
I pray for something positive with Dwayne's condition.
Other than the above things, to me, the rest is just fluff.

I am taking a run out to Finish Line today. With hope they will be open.
Turk, I think CSX700?'s elemenatary teachers would be more horrified by your grammar. You need to catch up on tense, comma placement and THE use of modifiers.
