SPF Changes
Can any of you wise men tell me where I can find a history of the changes that SPF has made to thier car?
For instance, at what chassis number did they start installing the center windshield support, etc?
Also, if anyone has any inside information on the latest Powerball numbers, if I win I will be able to buy a car quicker.

Floor is lowered 2" in heel area on drivers side (outer frame has also been widened in this area)
New pedal box 1-1/2" lower and 1-1/2" further forward (foot box changed)
Dead pedal foot rest pad next to clutch pedal
Tunnel widened to give more room for 460 clutch/fork/slave cylinder
Heat-shield under brake booster
Door hinges raised (to clear drivers shin)
Seat is built with steel tube frame and rubber strap diaphragms
Mud shields fitted behind rear wheels
Inner molding on hood modified to clear 460 air cleaner
Handbrake linkage modified with a double lever system
Fuel tank fitted with separate pick-up

The differential was changed last year from Ford T-Bird 8.8 with 3.73 gears to a Dana unit that is also used in an Aston Martin with 3.46 gears.
Some time before that stainless steel brake hoses were made standard.

They also upgraded the emergency brake and the soft top, but I can't remember at which number those upgrades took place.

When I was looking at SPF's in July of 2002, Dynamic had just received one of the first of the new tops. My car, 1507, was delivered in November, 2002, so I'd put the new top at maybe 1400 or so.
I installed the new E-brake in September of 2003 so that upgrade might have been included on cars in the 1600's or 1700's.

Was a two speed blower added somewhere?
Drop down fuse panel after 1040
All new wiring harness after 1900
Brake light switch moved to brake pedal box after 300...

Don't forget the larger rear sway bar that was originally offered as an upgrade from the Oltoff's and became standard equipment on cars around 1500.
Didn't the locking glove box become standard also around that production number?

I hope the E brake upgrade came after #642. What the car really needs is a "rag joint" on the steering, especially with BFGs.

It connects the steering shaft to the rack and penion to eliminate vibration in the steering.

Lowell: Does your rear window unzip? For some reason, I thought the new tops came much later than that. I have an early 2002 (1245) with the old top, but I thought the newest tops came on cars in 2003 or so. I know the e-brake came even later, and I guess they actually WORK now! I remember getting a quote from Dynamic, but I thought it was pretty expensive. -Have they come down in price since they first came out? I want to say it was 700.00-800.00 bucks or so. Does that sound right? Plus I was told it was a real pain in the a$$ to install.

Yes, my window unzips, although I've never bothered to take it out.
When I looked at cars at Dynamic in July of 2002, I asked Dean to put a top on a car so I could see whether I could get in and out and check the head room. Someone brought out a top and, as I recall, the story was that nobody had ever put one of these "new" tops on a car before, so they weren't quite sure how it went. Just a guess, but it may be that they still had a supply of the older tops and had to exhaust that inventory before they started shipping the newer tops.
The old E-brake was worthless. The new one will actually hold the car on a hill. I paid about $325 or maybe $350 for mine in 2003. Installation was not too bad but the better way to have done it would have been to take out the tunnel first. Taking out the tunnel the first time is a major PIA (there's a thread somewhere in which the proceedure is explained in detail) but once you've had it out, you can do a lot of other stuff much easier.

SPF 2218 has a zipper rear window. I just finally put the top on for the first time Saturday. It works pretty well when it is cold out. Although I find myself driving a lot slower than I would like. Yesterday in my Sports Car Club rally, about an hour in, I forgot about the top and let it rip. When I pulled 4th the top just about exploded! Got real drafty inside too. Bent something and the side windows tried to lift out of the doors! LOL, YIKES!
I should have bought the black (used once) hardtop from my dealer. I think it would have looked great on my green car.

Be cautious when using the top. It put fine scratches in my paint even with a cloth barrier I put between the top and the body. I would only use the top as a last resort.
I have SPF 2626, which has the e-brake type that is a disc on the drive shaft. It works but it is tricky to adjust. I thought I heard that they changed it again recently. Anyone??

Thudmaster, where did they move the e-brake? I've got 2245 and am on my second e-brake adjust and it's still wrong...I'm stuck carrying a tire chock for hills;( I'd like to upgrade if they came up with a better solution.

The new e brake is attached to the rear hubs ala corvette. And by god it works.....it actually works. Does your car have the aus dana?

That's afirm on the goofy aussy-hope-it-never-breaks rear end. What parts do I need (if you know) for the change over? I'd love to dump this unreliable set up. It's only a matter of time before my TKO-600 gets stuck in gear since I've been using it as a temp. fix as I throw the chock under the rear tires.
