Bob we are still waiting for the story. Please, you have kept us in suspence long enough.

You might ask Duane what he thinks the car is worth since Rich was kind enough to let him take it for a few fast laps at the Bash track day. You just couldn't wipe that grin of of his face the whole weekend.

Default Turd

HI GUYS,

I AM LOOKING FOR ANY INFORMATION ON THE TURD.

REF. BOOKS
SPECS.
PICS.

ECT.

CURRENT OWNERS CONTACT DETAILS??

I THINK THAT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN THE MOST DESIRABLE COBRA IN MY BOOK AND I WOULD LIKE TO SERIOUSLY RESCEARCH IT AND EVEN POSSIBLE BUILD A SIMILAR ONE.

THAT CAR IS WHAT KEN MILES ALWAYS DREAMT ABOUT,JUST A PITY HE STARTED BUILDING IT SO LATE IN THE PROGRAM.

MAYBE WE CAN RE LIVE HIS DREAM AND TRY TO PORTRAY TO THE WORLD WHAT REAL RACERS DREAM ABOUT!!!

I have read through the thread and have a few questions.

!. Wasn't the SuperSnake a GT350 one off model? Not the twin supercharged Cobra that two were built(one for Shelby and Cosby)

2. Was the flip-top restored because some time ago I saw pics that looked as if it was fully restored?

3. Did it sell at the last auction recently.

Thanks

2, yes where needed. Engine was replaced with a newer Shelby motor a while back, repainted, etc.
3. Sold to a private collector, left for back east right after the 50th Anniv. at Laguna Seca in Monterey. Had not heard of it being resold after that.

Here is a nice supercars site photo of it taken by Richard Owens at at Monterey / Laguna Seca last year Aug 2012 at the 50th Anniversary.

Yes, mine too. Here is my favorite photo (of course ). The feeling of its power and low stance handling from behind the wheel is something I will never forget in my life time. It was an absolute privilege to be given the opportunity to drive it on the track. Gave it a kiss goodbye at the Monterey 50th before it was transferred to the new owner. It still has a few WSCB event stickers on it too!

Wow, that would have been a rare treat. Lucky you!!

Hope I'm not screwing up the thread, but that car is the reason I decided to do a tilt front and hood louvers on mine.

What inspired you for that color combo, it seems like a nice blend. I always favored CSX 3053 Black with the silver stripe.

I have trouble posting pics but if anyone wants I can post pics of 25 plus years ago of flip top, but I'm sure others on here have done so somewhere.

OnyxRider,
If you have not seen this before, here is another tilt front project by the KMS crew. Not exactly a flip top but appears to be inspired by it.

Kirkham flip-top with a cammer!

Yes, please do!

The Kirkham flip top is a fantastic car, but being a Kirkham isn't that what you would expect?

Dumb ass me, I just noticed I registered in the past with my Naval Warfare code name used 25 years ago. I will look for the old pics of the flip-top this weekend.

I don't know what it's worth, but all of the pix on this posting have made me very psyched that I chose FIA wheels for my car.

OK I found the pics on a disc but had trouble posting here so I put them on a flicker account. Not sure when must be around mid-80's when I inquired about the purchase of this Cobra. I asked several questions about the current condition and originality of the Cobra. Was told some story about the wife and a pocketbook which I believe has been told elsewhere. Not sure how much but he suggested to send some some money(a few bucks) for pics of the cobra in it's present state. These pics were not taken by me but I believe the owner or someone for him. I recently scanned them onto a disc. If someone wants to post the pics here fine but I just uploaded them on flicker. I would have to spend some time in my books(grand-fathers) to find the exact dates because I clearly remember purchasing a mint Ferrari from Luigi Chinetti's personal collection.

To this day I still don't understand why the collectible Cobras are so underpriced compared to others especially Ferrari.

I know those Hermes Birkin handbags cost a fortune but having to sell this Cobra for a handbag......

Onyx Rider, realise its been a few years since you obtained these pics, but do you remember if this was the oil cooler or entrance/ducting to it that I have indicated on the attached photo of yours, must have been mounted flat if it is? Thanks.
