OK,

My Cobra (kit car) has a CHEVY ENGINE AND AUTOMATIC TRANS.......I have not tried to hide that from anyone and i have been told too many times how I should not have done such a bad thing by guys that are not even in the market to buy a car.

I AM NOT HERE TO FIGHT WITH ANYBODY I AM ONLY TRYING TO SELL MY COBRA, THE CAR IS WHAT IT IS AND THE 26K PRICE REFELCTS IT.

With that said, the car DRIVES AND HANDLES like a dream whoever wants to own a (NEW BUILT in 2006 now w/3800 miles) Cobra for only 26K this is your chance.

o.k. I gotta jump in. Sid you did the right thing you built it the way you wanted it. I have in my current collection of 22 cars. 4 fords, one buick, and one pontiac all with chevy motors in them. and I am seriously looking at puting in an automatic in one of my two cobras that will get built this next winter. I am looking to make a car that drives and handles the way I want it. not to suit anyone else. knowing that my buddy down the street is giving me grief for considering the auto, and as well as going with under the car exhaust. and heaven forbid I am thinking of wrinkle paint on the dash to match my 67 mg.

and if there was anyway possible I could get your car from indiana to california and get it registered here without all the legal mumbo jumbo I would buy that car in a minute.

I have been building cars for 30 years, and consult with dozens in the hobby and I always tell people to build the car the way you want it. do not build it for the next person. why have a car that you cannot enjoy.

do not get discouraged, sometimes it takes time to find the right person. lots of tire kickers out there that can only dream. unfortunately it just takes time to find that person. hang in there. and I my hat is off to you for building it the way you wanted it. hopefully you can sell it soon so I do not have to figure out a way to come buy it and drive or ship it to california.

and as said there is no right or wrong, I am always getting grief from the purists cause I did it my way and not there way. happy motoring.

Hray,

I am sure you would love the car if it wasn't for the CA thing.

Sid,

I agree with what Hray said. Your car is very nice and in my humble opinion worth what you are asking. It is more accurate than the one I had except for the motor. I did use a stroked 351 and a 5 speed. No 5 speeds or 351s in the originals. Some originals did have automatics and several replicas around here have them. Mine had the wrong wheel base, 94", wrong roll bar, I had one 3" one that went all the way across the back, wrong collectors as I didn't use the 4 into 1 set up, and many other things the purists would throw up about. But I built the car for me and not everyone else. And I had no problem at all selling it except I hated to watch it leave for Arkansas. But I had 11 years of fun with it. So don't get discouraged by any remarks people may make. And Cobra Country is a good place to list them too.

Ron

Ron has the right attitude. He is obviously a smart guy and besides, he lives just down the highway from me so he's got to be OK.

This is a hobby. Hobbies are supposed to be fun. If "authenticity" is fun for you, go for it. If a Chebbie motor is fun for you, that works just fine. The Cobra world is a big place and there's lots of room for everyone.

Someone is going to get a nice Hurricane for $26K and enjoy the heck out of it.

David,

Now that the weather is getting nice when are you going to come down and visit? I think our rain is over now and I had to turn the air conditioner on yesterday for the first time.

Agreed and well said! Before I started reading this forum, I too was considering the Chevy motor route (as that is all I really knew mechanically). I eventually got talked out of it here ( ) and at a local SPF dealer, but it was good advice from a re-sale standpoint. When you're driving down the road, very few (and I mean .001 of 1%) of the people listening to you cruise by will know the difference whether it's a Chevy or a Ford, BB or SB, until you stop and pop the hood (bonnet).

I am a Chevy guy and have been all of my life since the first car I bought. When I came home with a Cobra kit my wife said "A FORD? WHAT THE H**L". I had the option of going with a Chevy but opted for a 351W. Now I am trying to learn Ford. But as my late father always said "an internal combustion is a internal combustion engine. If you have a book, you can work on it".

tcrist,

The good thing about the 351 W is there are more than plenty of options
of things to do to it - all the way to a 427 stroker if you want LOTS of
ponies. Like everything else with these cars $ is the determining factor.

Built right, they run just as strong as most other V8's.

I sure hope this car finds a new owner soon. It deserves to be driven all summer long.

Hey, Ron:

I've never taken the Cobra that far in a single trip but you never know. I'm thinking of driving it to SAAC in July so I'd pass your way. If I do, I'll give you a holler in advance and maybe we can meet up and swap some lies!

David,

That would be great as you will pass just 3/4ths of a mile from my house coming down I-5. And with a rest stop now and then you can drive them a long ways. And it is just an hours drive from my place to Thunder Hill where some of the guys go to race.
