Take the motor and transmission out and I'll give you $14,000 for it

1badmofo, if mrmustang is willing to give you $14,000 for the motor and transmission, I'd jump on it. Seems like good dough for SBC and TH350.

Guys, this is a nicely done car - I've seen it before. No disappointments, especially for the Chevy lover!

We should have worked a deal Sid, should have had you send me the motor and trans and sold it bare naked... 20/20 hind sight. Somebody is going to miss out if they don't buy this, SBC and all.

I was thinking the same thing. For the money and lot of miles and smiles, a real value play for the enthusiast that is not bent on Ford engine and other originality cues. Going down the road, a lot of ordinary folks won't know the difference.
Good luck!

Reminds me of an eighties Vette I once saw at Carlisle with a Ford 429 in it. When you looked at it you just thought "Sumpm ain't rite here!" LOL

Hey, at least it's got the right motor in it! We'll have to see what happens in London for the Cobra! BTW, thanks for proclaiming me "Cobra Guru". Do I get a prize or something?

This sounds like a fine car and is probably a good example of a Chevy powered Cobra not fetching a very good price. Many people have said that if it is necessary to sell your Cobra which has an engine other than a Ford in it, you are going to have to accept a lot less than if it was Ford powered.
Goor luck with your sale,
Wayne

That is prolly true but to build the Cobra (KIT CAR) with the Chevy power did not cost as much as ford......
Still the car is VERY NICE FOR THE $$$$$$$$$....the build of the car i would put it next to any other Cobra out there and it will hold it's own.
Who ever buys the car will enjoy driving it knowing that they got a GREAT DEAL on it. ONLY 26K
Sid

It's not a question of "good" or "right" but rather what's commonly expected and accepted in a Cobra. There's no arguing that a Chevy engine makes a Cobra difficult to sell. Not saying that's a good thing or bad, but it's just the way it is. An automatic also makes a Cobra more difficult to sell. Take a Cobra with a Chevy AND an automatic, and you have a dramatically reduced target market.
Other than perhaps shoddy workmanship (which certainly does NOT appear to be the case here) , non- Ford engines and automatics are probably the two biggest impediments to selling a Cobra. You unfortunately have both. I say unfortunately only in reference to the ease of selling your Cobra. I'm sure it's a really cool car to drive, it's just going to be a tough sell. Again, not throwing darts here, the situation just is what it is. I wish you the best of luck in your sale. Be patient, and the right buyer will eventually find you. Don't get discouraged. As my Dad used to so eloquently say, "There's an a$$ for every seat." Hang in there.
