Backdraft VS. Superformance???

People that say Superformance haven't driven both. Backdraft is a better handling car with out question. The choice greatly depends on what you want/ how are you going to use it.

In the interest of not starting anything....BDR's have been repeatedly handicapped (by running more laps) during cobra racing events to try to keep the field equal.

See if you can get both cars side by side! even better have both on racks to look at the detail work of both cars. That might help. both makes are great cars and what ever you decide you will never regret getting a COBRA.

Then probably neither for you... a solid rear axle car has the advantage over an IRS.

FYI... You are new (judging solely on post count) so you probably don't know but asking 'who makes the best xxxx' is always stirring the pot! Don't sweat it though. Both are fast and capable.

Either way, come to London and see every kind of Cobra known to man.

There are other Cobra manufactures that are Better than BDR for road racing.
I would have to go with Factory Five for road racing.
Several reasons: Initial cost, ease of repairs if something should happen and they already have a Spec Racing Cobra unlike BDR at this time.

As for drag race , Factory Five or Lone Star might be the companys to go with.
They Both offer a solid axle rearend combination for their kit.
Most don't prefer FF or LS because it doesn't look exactly like the original Cobra.
But you already know this!

All discussions regarding quality aside, Backdraft can give you a roller built in South Africa for around $28.5k. SPF offers essentially the same package (remember I am not getting into a discussion regarding the quality black hole) for around $41k.

NET-NET, from a pure business perspective and taking a commodity view of the subject, SPF is likely going to be challenged right or wrong, in holding the line on pricing. I would suggest that some of the churn regarding ownership of SPF perhaps might reflect this reality.

Again, no discussion pertaining to relative quality of either vehicle.

The standard BMW, er BDR, comes with an open differential. If your drag racing add the cost of a rear end upgrade to the price.

It depends on how nice you want it to look. A FF will need a lot more work to get the body in nice shape. I was at a body shop who does them for a local builder. The painter told me that he ususally has 2 or 3 guys working on one for a month to a month and a half. I saw one they had in there that just arrived from FF. It was rough. Im not bashing the cars beacuse some are nice but in the end for equal cars I dont think there is really that big of price difference.

Nice looking, a relative term at best. Show quality? Daily driver? Inexpensive race car? So many variables. What is a 'nice looking' race car?

Dick Smiths 198 car comes to mind. Original wheels on an original car, no 'wings', no 'air dams', no 'front spoilers', no freakish roll cage/roll bars. CLEAN lines, looks MEAN, goes fast, now THATS what I'm talking about! Put wings, dams and spoilers on a Cobra and you get some kind of 'hot rod', buy a Mustang and knock yourself out if you like that stuff. It destroys the look of a Cobra in my opinion.

Cobras at events like Run and Gun with aero effects should not be allowed to race, period. Spec Racers like the FFR series have their own event, go for it! BDR's doctored up with aero crap should run in their own group.
