Default DMV friends and family

I was thinking that finding a contact within a DMV office anywhere in the northern California area would be a good idea for obtaining a TOP as well as paving the way to SB100 at the first of the year. Thus, I'll just throw that question out there to you all....If you do have a trusted contact you can recommend, I would love to contact them

As you don't have what city you live in, that makes it rather difficult as Northern California covers a lot of area. Also even if anyone does have a contact in one of the DMVs I doubt if they are going to post it here so the people monitoring these sites can get the name and have the person fired.

Fired? For what? Are folks at the CA DMV taking any improper actions with respect to TOP or SB100?

tsk, tsk...

ItBites,

Though they are going through major changes you should take a trip to the Redding DMV as it was a couple of years ago, before you get all indignant about people being fired. And it depends on who happens to determine what is an improper action. One woman was fired here three years ago for issuing a TOP that one of the supervisors decided should not have been issued to that person. Yet others that were issued to people for the very same weekend were ok and nothing was said about them. I can't speak for this DMV now as I avoid it like the plague but I have heard that they have changed it a lot and gotten rid of most of the older people. I do know that in my last two registration slips for my cars they included notes asking if people in this area would start going to the Redding DMV as it was not getting enough people to justify having it here. Draw your own conclusions.

Ron 61,

I'm not looking for anyone at a DMV office to do anything that would get them fired. I would just like an information source. Your comment regarding the DMV office in Redding...are you saying this may be a good office to consider visiting for helpful contacts??

By the way, I'm in Nevada City. However, I'm willing to travel great distances to find a DMV employee who would be a good source for information etc.

Herb

Definitely not Redding DMV. I would go to the Red Bluff one. That is why they had to start asking Redding area residents to use this one is that it as so anti car of any kind that you felt as if you were going into a combat zone. It has improved from what I have heard, but I have no first hand knowledge of it. And I doubt if any other DMV would fire a person for the reasons this one has in the past. The DMVs in the Sacramento area from reading posts seem to have better people to help on these things. I just can't give you a good place to go as I don't know since they change so much from one to the other and depending who you get to help you. My last post was meant to try and answer ItBites since he is in Arizona and doesn't have to deal with our mess. Some clerks will work with you and try their best to help you while others will basically tell you to get out if they have to do more than collect money from you. Just remember that like all businesses, there are a few A** hol** that make it hard for the ones trying to help people.

Sadly we feel like criminals when we go into these registration offices - and often get rudely treated as if we were/are...

At the end of the day we have either purchased or built an expensive kit car worth up to $100,000 in many cases. Double the price of a new Corvette.

Driven once or twice a week if we are lucky...

Hang on, as I predict this is going to get harder as the radical greenies and scientists are telling all and every Politician that will listen that we need to trade more for carbon emissions etc.

Forget about Senate Bill 100 as we will be driving cars with a three point plug hanging out the back if they get their way.

Mmmm and to think they are the same people who told us about the melt down that was going to take place on 01/01/2000 - 2yk..

I know a bit 'soap box' but it will happen, I think.

Well back to the rego. office. Yes would be good to meet someone who understood what you are trying to get through registration, someone that could direct you to the right person. Someone who could assist rather than create barriers.

Yes I think I know who and what you want. Us guys in the private business sector call this person our.."Customer Relations Officer"

Good luck finding that person at the rego. office there...
