Default Kirkham with a High Speed air dam

A couple days ago I stumbled across a photo of an Aluminum Cobra with an extensive Alum air dam in front. I think it was a Kirkham. Anyone out there see the same thing and could they post the photo or where it was found?

That would probably be Morris. His Kirkham is a work of art.

Here's a link to his Gallery: Morris' Kirkham

Mike,
Morris has done some amazing fabrication on this car. I was particularly interrested in his trans install. You have a T56 dont you? Did your frame have the same crossmember location as the Kirkhams? Was your T56 a bear to fit?

I've been reading Morris' posts and checking out his build progress for a while. He's got some inovative ideas and beautiful fabrication work in that car.

My Classic Revival chassis is very different to the Kirkham. It's a 4" square tube design and the tubes are spaced wider apart. The T56 was a fairly straightforward install. The tail of the gearbox hangs over the top of the main rear cross member. The cross member is a big X of 3" square tube welded between the rails and the rear gearbox mount is in the right in the V of the cross. The only real problem is to get the box out you need to pull the motor. I'm tempted at some point to make the tunnel removable to make working on it easier.

You can sort of see how tight it is in this pic:

Cheers

Mike, that TKO600 in Moris's build looks almost like it was made for that frame. Morris has got my vote for fabricator of the year! My dilemma is that Ive got a High Tech frame and Alum body (replica of the original) and I dont want to cut the frame crossmember. I sure wanted to put that T56 in my car though, Ive got one in my 04 GTO and love it. 2000 rpm in 6th gives me 80mph on the freeway and I was hoping that with so many gears I wouldnt be changing rear end ratios for different tracks. The T56 doesnt have such a pronounced hump as the TKO. I just dont see it fitting without a lot of modifying. Ive got a plastic mock up FE engine and this weekend I'll set it in there and start measuring. If anyone out there has put a T56 in an original style frame let me know. Keisler has agreed to change the shifter location on it and do a "tune up" with a new short throw shifter. I sure would like to use it but I also want to keep the option open for going back to orignial stock before I sell it.

Thanks Tom, Morris is the kind of guy youd expect to see in the future out there Terraforming new planets!! The wide body doors just might be a new option eh!! This is one fantastic build, It has just enough dialog and photos to inspire even the weakest of us weekend mechanics. Yup, Morris, you got my vote! Good luck.
