Default SPF at a local used car lot

I was driving buy a used car lot today and spotted a Cobra. I checked it out. It is Superformance origonally sold in 1999 as a turn key minus for just under $35K according to the paper work. It recently had a 351W stroked up to 418? Dyno sheet about 525 - 550 hp range. Papers showed $14K for the engine. It didn't have knock off wheels, but they look similar. He said something about having centers that were not on them. I'm thinking they are the five lugg look a like wheels with fake spinners not on. Car is in nice shape to look at. He was closing and I didn't get a chance to look real close at everything.

Price is $43K.

Since we are only 1.5 hr away from London, I told him he should take it there. He said he plans to, but he likes it so much he isn't ready to sell it just yet. I told him to raise his price if he doesn't want to sell it. He acted like he already had done that.

It makes me wonder just how little does he have in this car? What is the ball park worth of such a car?

Do you know the car #? All SPF's are numbered either on the top of the upper frame front crossmember or on a tag attached to the passenger side foorbox (or both).

Superformance has made a lot of upgrades to their cars over the years. I think there's a thread here somewhere which lists what was changed at approximately which car number. I could be wrong, but I believe the change to knock-off type wheels was pretty early. A lot of SPF owners have made upgrades to their cars as they became available, if possible.

I would say $43K is a little optimistic for this one. Right now it's a buyer's market. This link will give you a good idea what prices people are asking for these cars. http://www.cobracountry.com/cobrasforsale-cobras.html

But...hey, it can't hurt to take it for a drive and see what you think.

Good luck,

Lowell

Did Superformance sell cars without pin drive wheels?

Yes, they did on a few. They were a lug nut version with a fake pin drive spinner covering them. Pretty rare.

I'm not interested in this car. If someone on this site is interested, I would be happy to get a phone number and some information for them.

I have no financial interest, or relationship with the dealership or its employees.

It is in Heath, Ohio. Car lot's name is Huber's (I think the spelling is right).
