Spend some time investigating used Cobra values. You will find that the more accurate the replica, the higher the demand for the car will be if you sell at a later date. Originals came with independent suspension. The price of pin drive replica wheels has dropped significantly over the last few years. A 428FE and toploader is inexpensive and original. Try to maintain as much originality as your wallet will bear. It will pay off in the future.

Talk to Bob Evans. Do a search under member list for Robert Evans and send him a pm. He'll be glad to talk to you about his car and the modifications that's been done to accomodate larger drivers like him. He's about 7'2" and fits comfortably in a Unique 289 FIA. Plus, his car is for sale.

FFR owner's up to 6'-5" have build MKIII's to fit them. I am 5-11 and my clutch pedal is almost to far away, I have to almost completely straighten my leg when depressed. Foot room is also a consideration, I can't use regular (wide) shoes, need to have narrow driving/racing shoes to be comfortable.

what is all the hub bub with street beast? I would realy like to see some of these bigger ones to see how they look. I don't want to look strange. I also dont want to look like a grizzly riding a 10 speed either. Looking through the winshield would be nice to. What about Hurricaine Motorsports?

I guess I should clerify what I want in a Cobra.

1. Great road handling - not race track
2. Drivetrain to handle 500hp
3. Quality materials - I guess that should have been first
4. Fit - I am 6'2" 280
5. Price - Best bang for the buck without sacrificing quality
6. Good customer support

I plan to build a 460 stroker somewhere between 514 and 572ci. This may sound stupid, but I want a motor that sounds nasty. Nice lopy idle. I feel stupid for saying that but that is what I want.

One thing I don't understand is how much some parts cost. For example, one company wants 1800 for a Ford 8.8 rear end with limited slip! I can get that axle localy with disc brakes and 31 spline axles for under 200 and build a mean axle for less than a 1000 bucks. It is a very common axle. I'm sure I could do the same with a 9" as well.

Well I guess thats it in a nutshell

Don't forget to consider the Backdraft Roller. They have a larger cockpit as well and you can even order wider seats. I've seen modifications done to the Backdrafts to accomadate a 6'5" to 6'6" individual from Vintage Motorsports. Give Jay a call down there.

Josh, from the sound of it we're about the same size and I have many of the same concerns that you do. That's why I'm loading up the family here in a couple of weeks to head up to the London Cobra Show and get an eye full of all maner of replica Cobra. It aught to be a great time and it looks like there'll be a huge turnout this year. Who knows, maybe I'll come back next year with a Cobra.

I looked a quit a few kits and I found that the West Coast Cobra is best, they only make only one model size 6" longer and 4" wider. This is a very solid car with a well designed chassis. They are desiged for a 460 which are resonable priced straigt from Ford Racing. The kit is a little more money but I think worth it.

I'm 5' 10" 180 lbs but I have a Lone Star which has a 94" wheel base. My doors are 4" longer than FFR, E-M, Shell Valley,LA Ext, and all the others that I have checked. Some kit have 94" plus wheel base but did not put the extra room in the drive compartment. Check before you buy. I have seen some very large guys get in and out of a standard size Cobra! Are you going to the London Cobra Show this month? If so you can sit in all the different Cobras till you find one you like. Great bunch of girls and guys at the Show. Very friendly and helpful. Just ask, I'm should they will let you try on Their Cobra.

Looking thru the windshield is why I got the stretched kit. I also went with diffrent seats so I could recline them. Very comfortable to drive for hours at a time. Look at my gallery, plenty of pictures of the stretched car.

Josh,
We have recently added a modification to the rear wheel wells allowing the seat to go back an additional 2" for even more legroom. We also have double dropped floor boxes and the steering wheel is at a slight angle to keep it off your knees. Give me a call and I would be happy to walk you through the details of the kit.

I'm 6'2" @ 260 (big-boned) and am fine in my un-modified Shell Valley. The often unknown but actual cut-off point between normal sized and big is 6'3" and 300 lbs. Unlike television, in a Cobra you actually look 20 lbs lighter.

Classic Roadsters has a longer wheel base which allows for larger interior. My seats have sliders on them and a "package self" behind them. I actually have to slide seat forward to reach the pedals.
