Which kit for larger drivers?
I am looking for a roadster kit that ofers decent leg room for someone who is 6'2". I have heard the Hurricaine kit has a decent size tub, but that is as much as I have found so far. I am not a purist(No offense to those that are) so I am not to concerned with dimensions with in reason. Of course quality is also important. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Josh,
I don't own one but I think Superformance has quite a bit of room. You might go to a meet or ask some of the guys here or on the Superformance Forum about them. Warren, ( OF the Wooden Turtle Fame ), has one and I believe he is around 6'2 and he has no problems.

Thanks, but I am looking for one in kit form. The SPF cars are nice, but out of my immediate buget. I am looking at the kits that are in the 20K range, give or take. I plan to build the motor(460 stroker) myself for the most part. Hell I am even thinking of doing the paint myself as well.

The Lone Star Classics kit out of Fort Wort, Texas has 4" drop pans and are setup for up to 6'4" comfortably. Great frame and comes in kit form. Ask them about their vacation home build.

Talk to Peter or Bob at ERA in New Britain, Ct. Not too far up the road from Virginia to check out their shop. They have some big guys driving their 427's.
They have an extended foot box, can move pedal placement and are alway happy to have visitors. You can see their fabrication shop where they build the chasis and do the fibreglass body layups. And then visit their finish shop where they assemble "rollers", and turnkey cars for customers. They generally have 10 cars (427's and 289 FIA's) on the floor in the finish shop. Their kit price is in the range you mention and it's quality is hard to beat. Their 3" * 4" rectangular tube chasis is an incredible base for a cobra. In my opinion, they engineer their cars like no other. Have fun! Rickd

You could also try Classic Roadsters, Ask for Don or Pete. There Cobra+ package is $19k. The cobra has extended doors which makes them eaiser to get in.

We manufacture a kit using a 98" wheelbase that is longer than the original 90 " length. It is based on a 1969 to 82 vette chassis but any engine/tranny combination is an easy install.
A zip file of manufacturers, options and their contact info has been around for a while and here is the link.

Take a look at West Coast. The wheel base is 96 inches and 4 inches wider than an original. I know a few owners that are well over 6 feet and have no complaints. It's one reason they bought a West Coast in the first place.

I'm 6'2" 240lb.i had to move my seat forward 3or 4 inches forward to push the clutch in .My car is a B&B roadster.

I had the Classic Roadster Cobra. It has a 94 inch wheelbase. The previous owner was 6 ft. plus. I am just under 6 ft. Plenty of room with the enlargened foot well!

I'll back RickD on the ERA suggestion. You should no problem fitting into an ERA and you also won't have to sacrifice any originality with a stretched wheelbase. Keep in mind you may want to sell the car someday and ERAs are legendary for holding their value due to their originality. You will also find a great deal of the car comes pre-assembled. If you look at my gallery you will see how my car came delivered to me and I did not order a roller. Because I ordered the optional rear suspension and comp. front brakes, my car was simply ready for wheels and tires which I shipped to ERA for easier delivery. All aluminum panels installed, dash, headlights, pedals, brakelines, etc. This is a replica you basically can't screw up and you will save mucho hours and work. Like you, I am also painting mine myself. Do yourself the favor and take a ride up to Connecticut.

I'm 6'5" and fit in my SPF, but I've done a few things to make room.
Here is a link to an Excel spreadsheet that lists all WW manufacturers web sites and the wheelbase of the models they sell. There are about 15 manufacturers with WB longer than the standard 90 ".

If you can swing it over to the London show, you will be able to sit in many cars.

Big Guys ERA...
I am one of those pretty big guys driving the new coachwork of ERA. I am 6'2" and weigh 215. I have to move the seat up to touch pedals. They put extra room in their New Generation car.

Wow, I was not expecting all these responses! Thanks. One thing that I have been reading on some manufactures websites saying how many points that the body connects to the frame eliminating body vibrations. I don't know if that should be a concern or not? So what do you guys think about the rear end? Solid or independant? Oh by the I am 6'2" and 280.
