Wink OH GREAT, another newbie

Hello folks, this is my first post. I've been reading the info here at CC for about 6 months. I wanted to wait and join after I got my cobra, but as I am getting close to a purchase. I decided I had better join and let you folks guide me in the "right" direction. Questions will follow, but for now

I want to thank Brent Mills for putting this site together. I have learned more about cobras in the last 6 months than I new existed. Let's put it this way I know enough now to know I don't know anything, but I'm learning. When I decided to pursue this childhood dream. I thought I just needed to decide what color FFR roadster I wanted. Blue with white stripes or red with white stripes. WOW what a difference 6 months makes. You guys and girl (hey little cobra) have made me laugh outloud at times. From the "REAL" debates and "REPLICA" issues, it has all been fun. I hope it will continue on with me included. Once again thanks.

Sean -

Welcome aboard! This is certainly the best place on earth to be for any Cobra enthusiast. I wish clubcobra had existed back when I built my car (1997) - it sure would have helped to have the experience of this group of folks when I was working on it.

Lots of great people, lots of really sweet cars. Hope the quest for your dream car goes smoothly!

regards,

cobrajeff

Sean, welcome to the site, I live in Greenville and have a Kirkham aluminum cobra with webers. You are welcome to come see it anytime. I also built a fiberglass car with my son, so I have a little experience with car choices and the good and bad about most of them. chuck smith

Sean,

I went through the same process. I thought I wanted a Factory Five too. I spent a long time understanding the market. What's available. What the value of everything is. In the end, a used Superformance was right for me.

Check it all out. Take your time. You are on the right road. Fun times are ahead.

An easy way to check out Superformance would be to simply go up the road to Olthoff Racing. The best. My local dealer McMichael is about the same distance from you. Great people too.

If you want to check mine out (Atlanta), drop me a line. I am out of town (England) and probably will not be back til the end of June. You are welcome.

Good luck!!

Jack

Sean, welcome to an interesting hobby! Research is certainly a huge part of the attraction, and there is a very eclectic group of owners, dealers, and builders who will gladly share their knowledge, interest, opinions, and passion with you. Visit your local Superformance dealer for sure, and also plan a visit to ERA's shop in New Britain, Ct. If a Kirkham is in your budget, that would be a great trip as well. I had a Unique FIA cobra for 2 years and I am now having an ERA FIA built (it's at paint right now, and Keith Craft is building a 331 stroker). It's exciting, and the cars are an absolute blast to drive. Enjoy the process!! RickD, Miami, FL.

Sean,

Glad to have you join. You are in a great area to look at many different makes of replicas and decide just what you want. Just as long as you don't use a Frog or Turtle as a hood ornament you will have a lot of fun here. And any questions you have, there will be at least one or two people who can answer it and have most likely gone through the same thing.

Ron
