Default Tulsa area Cobra Club???

Haven't heard of any Cobra clubs in the Tulsa area.

I know there are a few Cobra's around here. What about it Tulsa Cobra enthusiasts?

Would be nice to have some cruises, lots of nice roads out here in NE Oklahoma, not to mention Route 66! I'm getting a little jealous reading about all the other Cobra weekend cruises going on throughout the nation.

Any thoughts??

I know my Cobra isn't finished yet, but it soon will be.

There's several of us in Tulsa. PM me your email and I'll try to send you the list. We've talked about getting together for a cruise, but its never happened. There sure are a lot of cruise-ins Mond-wed in town that it would be fun to meet at too.

Great to hear that Mat! I'm going to try to make Tuesday Cruise Night in Broken Arrow next week, won't have my Cobra then, probably will bring our yellow Sky.

I'll pm you my e-mail address.

Maybe we can get something set-up pretty soon!

Clois put together a list of Okla Cobra owners a couple of years ago. We have always talked of a formal club, but it just never happens. There are a lot of cars in E. Ok and I, for one would love to attend some orginized gatherings and cruises. I have always wanted to put together a 2-day fall cruise over Talamena drive in the Kiamichi mtns. While I'm not directly in Tulsa, it's close enough that I would participate.

Good to hear from you Brad. Maybe this time we can make it work, lets see what we can do. That fall cruise you mentioned sounds great. Why don't we try to get one organized?

I hope more area Cobra enthusiasts respond to this thread so we can get this thing going.

Hey Buzz, Harlan, Where are YA??? This sounds like your kinda thread!!!

Anyone contemplating a cruise in and around T town , Ya gotta cruise Peoria Ave! In the 60s and 70s it was well known as the "Restless Ribbon". Cars and kids cruising both sides of the street from 31st to 51st with restaraunts and drive in's like Pentingtons (Arnolds only bigger) and others. Now the fine eateries are Sonic, A&W and DW. It was THE meeting place for all of NE Oklahoma on a Friday or Sat night. I've lived out here in LA for many years and been to lots of cruises. Hollywood Blvd. Van Nuys Orange Co. etc. But none of them could hold a candle to Peoria on a Weekend night. Nothing to do on a Sat night? Just pile into your car and head for Peoria, you'd see 100s of kids all doing the same thing. Whether it was checking out the Hot Rods, girls, or making new friends you just couldnt beat it for fun, wholesome and cheap entertainment. Ive got lots of great memories thanks to those years and wouldnt trade a single one. If ya do cruise down Peoria Ave, when ya get to the Harley Dealership honk your horn. I grew up in the house directly behind it and have life long friends that still live on that block!

When I built my Cobra in 1993 there was a group of Cobra owners that got together on Thursday nights at Weber's Rootbeer Stand on Peoria. They kept a list of all Cobra owners in the area. They have long since gone and I have no idea where the list ended up or the guys went. A few years ago there was talk of starting a club but nothing ever happened. I expressed interest in it but was never contacted. My Cobra is Chevy powered so I get ignored like a bastard stepchild. I'd like to join if they allow Chevy's. I live in Owasso and know a few Cobra owners in town. Keep me in touch and send a PM.

Michael,Wayne, Randy et al

I tried to get something going a year or so ago and even gave the area a tag line "Tornado Alley Cobra Club or TACC" but no one came forward. Got lots of names and even proposed a cruise or two but I guess our timing was off. I still have names and contact info if anyone wants to get this thing going I am all in.

Matt that is a good idea how about meeting this Monday night at the Steak n Shake across from Hooters on Memorial about 6:30. Dean Lampe will probably be with me. Matt Twiehaus and I went to the cruise at the Backyard Burger this past Tuesday. Hopefully, next Tuesday I will have my car in a set of new GY slicks and ready for Hallett.

Hey Clois, Gettin ready for the big weekend? This would be a great opportunity to network with all the Cobra owners in NE Oklahoma. Maybe you could invite a few on this thread to your little swaree? Ive been in more than a few clubs in my time, sometimes it only takes the right timing. This may be it. Ask Buzz what he thinks. Maybe you guys could check with Mid America and get a list of Cobra owning okies from them.
If you cant get enough to commit to a club then see how many would be interested in meeting every other month. Sometimes it only takes one good outing or party to get the ball rolling. Good Luck!!

Hey Wayne, Ive got 2 Cobras that Im working on, one has an LS6 M22 in it. I know about being the red headed step child!! Dont let it bother you. The ones that make the biggest deal out of it are usually the ones that have forgotten that this is supposed to be about fun. I hope you guys can start something. I'll have my Hi Tech finished by next summer and wanna visit!! My Sister and brother in law live on Aspen there in Broken Arrow so Ive got the bread and breakfast thing already wired.
I just heard that the Cardinals chose a HS kid from Owasso as their 1st pick in the draft. A short stop. 17th overall I think... Good for him. The Cardinals are a great outfit to break in with and if real lucky, enough to spend their entire career with. I coached a kid who pitches for them now, Anthony Reyes. Hes not doing real well as a starter in his 1st year but last year as a rookie he won the 1st game in the world series. The team now is only giving him 2 runs a game to work with but I bet those guys get it together before its done. Ahhhhh, Baseball, Beer and a good running Cobra and Im a happy man.

we are such wimps! (smiles) we have a great show right here in town and no club to host it. Clois, I thought about offering up the ponderosa for the party, but a big cobra bash probably would not look good in the custody battle.

Ouch Buzz!

Wayne,

Until you open the hood no one will know the difference and then a good part of those leaning over your fender still won't know wheather it is a Chebbiel, Ford, or Toyota. Anyone wanting to take the lead on this is welcome to step up.

Clois

Clois, Randy or anybody with a love for Cobras in the Tulsa area,
I'll try to make the Monday affair @ Steak & Shake. I'd like to get this club deal rolling. We can talk more then. I am not the best organizer but I do have a lot of time to do the leg work (retired). The best way to start is with a list of all that have an interest in joining and to get together at some kind of gathering like Steak & Shake to find out what everybody expects from this and to put a face on a name.
Anyone interested or if you already have an up to date list can contact me at ( waykoe@cox.net ) Lets get this thing rolling. Randy what will you be driving monday night? Clois I already know what you drive. We met a couple of years back.

Sounds like a plan, Wayne.

I agree, we can talk about it Monday night, looking forward to it. I only wish my Cobra was finished, my plan was to have it finished this month, but sometimes "life gets in the way". I'm hoping to have it done real soon.

I'll be driving a yellow Saturn Sky, not many on the road right now so I'm pretty sure it'll stand out in the crowd.

Randy
