Default A&C car questions

I'm looking at a couple options. One is an unfinished project. The other is a finished A&C car. The price on either car, for what they are, is very reasonable, and know I don't want to buy both. Both cars are the 427 Cobra body style.

I am not very familar with A&C, other than having read on their web site.

Quality of the frame?

Are the bodys well made? Not likely to crack. Fit of panels good. Hinges, latches, etc., hold up well.

How does their seats and interier hold up?

How close to the original shape is the A&C body?

Weight of an A&C (all else being equal) about the same as most?

A&C comes with the color gel coat that does not require paint, but this car has been painted. I wouldn't think there could be problems with painting an A&C, but if there are please let me know.

I understand most of this depends on care taken to build the car and the care taken of the car after it is built. What I'm looking for is, if it is taken reasonable care of, how does it hold up compared to other manufactures?

Any tips on look for this or whatch out for that would be appreciated. Also any outstanding good things that is above the norm I want to hear about.

Thanks

I have had my A&C on the road going on 8 years now, 25k miles. It is still in the original gelcoat and looks like a nice paint job. I plan to paint mine one of these days.

The frame is very solid and made of rectangular tube steel. The body quality is probably the best in the industry. Trunk, hood, doors are all double lined. Edges rolled. The glass is pretty thick too. Total weight is around 2350lbs.

The A&C body is very close to an original.

Any build will only be as good as the builder. My build site is at http://www.priveye.com/cobra.htm

Thanks Roscoe.

I was hoping for some more opinions. I guess know one likes to say anything bad about a car for fear of offending.

I really would rather have an IRS and I'm sure one could be fabbed up using the 9" that is in the car. Anyone ever put an IRS in an A&C?
