I will bet that is just sediment on the car, but i'm sure the interior and wiring is toast

Looks like it would've fared better in a nuclear explosion.
I have a feeling that if they leave it as is - they could get over a million at Barrett-Jackson, and no, I'm not kidding.
Talk about a rarity. This puts the seven Daytona coupes to shame.

It's appears that no one expected the vault to fill with water. The "protection" put on the car was more for humidity than submersion. It really is sad. For all the effort expended to bury the car the one crutial issue, that the vault had to be absolutely water tight, was missed. We don't use basements in our part of the country. If we, did like northern states, this would have been attended to I imagine. I'm going to the car show and to see it in a few hours. I was 9 years old when it was buried.
As I've gotten older I am amazed and continually aware how often one error in judgment can lead to catastrophic results. In this case the steps were not taken to assure the vault was water tight.
Back to Cobra's! Should get car back from paint before long and I will soon me making decisions regarding shift points at high RPM levels! BB

Maybe they should try again and this time make sure they have a water proof vault. I won't be around to see it dug up, but many of the younger people would be and would probably be as interested as we were in this one.

I read in the paper this morning that there have indeed already been offers in the hundreds of thousands of dollars on the car. Somebody is hoping real hard that they find that microfilm with the winner/owner's name on it.

Those white walls are still looking pretty good. All kidding aside this was an interesting unveiling. Maybe we could build "tomorrow's car" constructed of all plastic, even the engine. If nothing else these projects sure stir up the brainstorms of ideas. It's easy to say what shoulda/coulda been done back then but 50 years ago who knew? We were still flying cross country in props.

I find it humorous that they buried 10 gallons of gasoline in case the internal cumbustion engine was obsolete. No worrys, folks - the future will be remarkably similar to 1957.

This has got to be one of the funniest clown acts of all time.
Somehow I suspect the tax payers payed for this and a Government employee was in charge of this great experiment. I just cannot see anyone spending their own money on this and not designing it correctly.

Mmm thought Tupperware and Gladbags were around in the 50's..
..could have been placed in a giant Tupperware container. Think of the marketing 50 years later..
