Just FYI on the vintage decal kit... The circle with the "E" on it, should not be on the side of the car. That decal is supposed to go next to your power cut off switch to show track officials where it is in the car.

Ah.....er.....well....NO. The big E is for the fire system location.

Yes, you're right, my mistake. I was thinking of the decal with the lightning bolt for the cut off. The "E" is for fire system switch ("E"xtinguisher) location as you said. Same principal though, it shouldn't be on the side of the car.

Good to know! I don't need another Cobra guy telling me "Hey, you know that E shouldn't be here, right?" I don't want to plaster my car in the decals either. Just wanting a bit of the vintage race look. The pics you guys have provided are very helpful. Thanks!

I put the 'E' on the side, as I don't have the onboard fire system.
The lightning bolt usually has a blue triangle base here in Australia it is 4".
I think it is requirement of the Confederation of Australian Motorsports - CAMS. For track or race days.
I usually have it on the boot/trunk lid on the side that the battery is on.
I'm not really worried about placing the 'E' as I also place the Goodyear sticker/decal and run B. F. Goodrich tyres/tires.
Just like the look of the decals and the luxury of being able to remove them in minutes...

Looks good. The Goodyear sticker may peel off if the pipes are active as they heat the body up in that area. Guess just try it...

Hate to say this but according to Shelby Cobra: The Shelby American Original Color Archives 1963-1965 (Hardcover) by Dave Friedman (Author) there was never an Esso sticker on the Cobras. It was Shell.
A look through the book tells you that none of the Cobras has an ESSO sticker. You can clearly see the SHELL sticker on the cars though.
Now get rid of those ESSO stickers,
Roscoe

But what if he uses ESSO gas NOW?
As for the decal placement, personally I think they look a little too random and spread out. You might want to try a pattern that's a little more uniform or symmetrical. Then again, I'm an anal bastard. LOL.

I got out some copies of various Dave Friedman books and used old pics of the '64 team FIA's as a reference, then placed them where I thought appropriate...

I've just bought a set of the Finishline vintage decals, but they don't seem to want to "stick" to my unpainted Kirkham.
I'm sure they would all fly off if I drove with them on. Any suggestions, or am I just going to have to glue them on?
