Opinions on Gas Caps
Hi Everyone,
Just trying to get some ideas from everyone's experience wheither to go with a locking gas cap or the funnel gas cap. I like the funnel gas cap but have concerns about fuel sloshing out and, potentially, making it easy for "gremlins" to siphon out gas. The locking gas cap would take care of both of these concerns but sort of detracts from the overall appearance.
Any thoughts or experiences either way would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if it is available anymore, but I recall seeing a Le Mans type cap that had a locking cap inside. Secure and appears correct!

Le Mans cap with a tennis ball underneath. Siphon gas from a Cobra? Not likely, the car in general has to much mystique for most people (including thieves) to even consider messing with it.

I have the LeMans cap on mine with the locking cap inside it. Ernie's tennis ball idea is also used by many people but you have to have enough room under the top cap for one. My other Cobra Roadster didn't have that much room.

Good morning,
I think SPF sells, not cheaply, what you are looking for. You can find the part number on this page.

The fact is (unfortunately) that when a Cobra flips upside down the Lemans cap rips off the car. I've seen pictures of this. Gas is EVERYWHERE. A second locking cap is vital to your survival in this situation. -John

Thanks everyone.
I had not given any thought to someone trying to put something into the tank. Having a locking cap is becoming a more attractive option. With a couple of young ones myself, I should have given that more consideration since they have a propensity for "testing" things out and that big hole would certainly look pretty inviting.

If it wheels up you got all kinds of trouble, which I guess could include the gas cap.

Here's the one I use from Enzo at Finishline. Top quality piece and no sloshing fuel on the paint.
