Default New kid on the block new carbon fiber cobra

I spoke with a genteman from Texas who builds carbon fiber bodied cobra's. He states he uses ariginal style suspension and the body is built like a kirkham in style. It is riveted to the frame and in everyway looks like an original alum car. He sells them complete and painted for $35,000. I have pics they are gorgeous

welcome, now when you say complete, do you mean a complete roller or complete turn key car, if so what power plant does he use?

Yes, I met Brian, and I saw one of his first cars about 6 months ago. Very nice looking. He parked it next to an original and you really could not tell the difference. He plans to sell a complete roller. You supply the engine etc.

I bought the red one and should take delivery by the end of the month. It is a complete roller less carpet and vinyl. The dash is done though. Roger takes anal retentive to a new level. He has the carbon fiber wrapped around wire in the wheel wells so it feels like .060 aluminum. The paint is single stage. He casts his own Salisbury look alike diffs. etc. Absolute work of art. I had him add an oil cooler and puller fan. It comes standard with two pushers. He creates the 427 SC only.
You can see the imprint of the fiber under certain light conditions but you can on the Formula one cars too. Really nice.

That is one nice car and I really like that red. And if they are only $35K that is a real bargain for what you get, at least in my opinion it is. The detail in the picture books about as perfect as you can get it.

I now stuck I really love the kirkham's. This car seems pretty close and is a lot cheaper. Carbon fiber versus alum. Hmmmmmmm. I like the brushed alum look of the unfinished Kirkham. I wonder how you fix carbon fiber if it gets cracked. The body is made as one unit

There are several places in Phoenix that work with carbon fiber. It's not that different than fiberglass to work on, I'm told. I'm sure it could crack if hit hard enough but will take a beating far better than fiberglass or especially aluminum.

Chris,

Those pictures are beautiful, can't wait to see one of these cars up close and personal as I might have to add it to my short list of my next Cobra purchase. Any other details on the roller package, please post it here.

Thanks,

Bill S.

I have one of Roger's Carbon fiber bodies and chassis and the body without paint is a thing of beauty. No seams to speak of, and what seams must have been apparent after molding were completely smoothed down before it reached me. No filler in the seams at all that I can see.

Even though I bought an incomplete chassis, the frame and finished parts I received were exceptionally well done, tig welded, and set up as close to original as I believe it is possible to get.

Roger is also a great source for original style parts. I believe his stock is probably greater than Cobra Restorers and his prices and service have been terrific in my experience. His knowledge of the cars has been excellent also, so anytime I needed a question answered he has been more than gracious in taking the time to help me out.
I hope these rollers sell very well as I think that the prices and quality are going to be hard to beat.

Did I mention my Carbon Fiber body is REALLY light? and strong......

Bob
