Turkey pan from Finishline
I don't have anything to compare this to but the $200.00 turkey pan I recieved from Finishline is crap. Three dents, fairly deep gouges from a grinder on the lower sides and a lot of finish work to be done. Is this normal?

Polishing this thing will make it look worse. What kind of fitting was required? I'm sending this thing to the engine builder (if I don't throw it away) to have it installed before the carb. is attached.

You are missing out on the fun part. The bottom of the pan needs to be cut for fuel log and throttle linkage. Its really not that hard, just takes time to do it right.

So, your saying that I need to wait and install the turkey pan after the engine is installed in the car in order to determine the linkage and fuel log clearance? Does a template exist to get the adjustments done before engine install?

The pan I have on my car came 100% done. No welding, no grinding, no fitting. Looks perfect and bolted right on. Even has the "tuning holes" for the Holley carb.
Unfortunately I have no idea what the brand is. I purchased it from Funfer2 here on the forums, maybe you can PM him as ask where he got it.

"Kirkeypan" from KMP... a little more pricey, but the work is pretty much done.
More details...

Here's a couple of pictures of this work of art from Finishline.
Unfortunately, they have a 30 day return policy and I just opened it yesterday but bought it a couple months ago. Maybe they will take it back. I'll check tomorrow.

Call them and tell them your issues. I have bought hundreds of dollars worth of stuff from Finishline over the past year, and have been delighted with quality and service. I have exchanged a couple of things in that time, and they were easy and cooperative to work with!

I plan on calling them tomorrow. They do have their 30 day return policy so it's my fault that I didn't inspect it before now. But I can't believe something like this would leave their warehouse.

They may have never seen it. I doubt they make thier own and it may have come prepackaged to them.

I pruchased my turkey pan from Finishline, some time ago, too. It came pretty much looking the same as yours. I used some aluminum polish and a polishing wheel with a touch of elbow grease, and it came out looking fine. When I got it though, I was a little disappointed in the quality and was going to send it out to a professional polishing company, but decided I wanted to do it myself. I don't think the original cars had perfect and pristine turkey pans, so I thought, what the hay! I am going for that original look, afterall. In hind sight, I do wish I had ordered from Kirkham, though.

All the polishing in the world won't remove the dents. It will make them stand out even more. I didn't notice some until I started with 20 grit sandpaper and scotchbrite.

I just talked to Finishline and they said I could return the pan. That's good business since they didn't have to take it back.
Sounds like the Kirkey pan is the way to go so I ordered one. Costs more than twice as much but you get what you pay for.
