Yes... powersurge is absolutely correct on power loss to wheels from crank. The engine i have was sold as having 600 at crank with high octane gas and no sidepipes. But when on the car and i've finely gotten close to tuned in... its about 440hp at wheels on 93 octane. Which is close to 25% loss. But to be honest.... if i had regular high performance goodrich street tires on there i wouldn't be able to control when dropping hammer. The race tires help keep me attached to earth. So if you can get 375-400hp to wheels , thats plenty to scare yourself and say thank you Jesus! (or whatever God you prefer!)

FST;

Your 347 combo is pretty "healthy" at 450hp, to get another 100 hp out of it, your going to need some serouis stuff, ie.,more cam,more compression, cylinder head work,probably more/better carb,and possibly a stronger bottom end to handle 550 hp........

Getting in the 450 hp range is not that hard to do with the right combo of parts, but as you try to move up the hp scale,you will have to spend a lot of money for small gains, assuming you stay with a carbed motor and no power adders........

I think the easiest,cheapest, and quickest way to go would be to add a super charger, many,many on the market to choose from.....
