..it would think it needs more than a magic-marker to call it "CSX7004"

Ron, I showed that to Kris last week and he said that is his printing on the frame.
He remembers building it.

So is it stamped and verified with a piece of paper is the question. It doesn't quite fall into the same category as the ally bodied 4000 car on there at the moment for 9.5K BIN...........

Pretty unlikely... it appears to be a set of tubing.
I do believe there is a CSX7004 out there....that one has a body.

Would that make this CKX7004?

Still, would save a lot of time to a scratch builder.............
I guess we'll see if time is money in this case!

Oh...absolutely. That is a great frame design.
The buyer would just have to discard any thought of CSX DNA, though.
And I don't think it's priced with that in mind.

I built that chassis so Venture Industries could copy it. I didn't final weld it because they didn't want any distortion on any of the tubes or mounts. The photo that says "CSX7004" is my chicken scratches.
Somebody must have stolen it from Venture as they were going out of business.

No, not really. I was thinking that it would be a starting point of correct dimensions that would be adapted to whatever use a builder may desire. It would almost certainly be a good way to correct the Cobra Restorers blueprints! Most of the scratch builds here have strayed somewhat from absolute originality because of lack of true prints. This would be a very good starting point for somebody to build an accurate jig to makes his own oe style frames and adapt as he required (differentials, etc..). Then he could go back on Ebay and sell it again until it would probably as predicted wind up under an air car.

There have been an abnormally high number of Cobra and cobra related scams on ebay lately. Watch out if you're thinking of buying anything Cobra related these days.
Obviously, the Nigerian scams weren't making enough money, so they've gone after another sector of gullible people? Between ffcobra.com and this site, I can think of at least 20 ebay auctions that have been reported and shut down in just the last week or so.

My name is Mike O'Neil. I bought the frame and cart pictured in this thread in 2010. I bought it from a Kevin in Michigan who says he worked for Venture. I just want to follow up to understand if Shelby Inc. has any concern on the frame's ownership.
Thanks

I'm not sure what the story is on the frame. The entire time Venture had this chassis, they owned Shelby American, the chassis was technically theirs, not the Shelby of today. Venture is long gone, so there's probably nobody around to contest ownership. Venture was a billion dollar company at one point and I'm sure there's lots of their old equipment scattered throughout the world.
All that said, I don't know the chain of ownership with this chassis. Sorry.

Mike,
SAI does not have an issue with what you own, however, the owner of the real CSX7004, having uninterrupted ownership from the MSO to now, might have an issue with you if you attempt to title the car as such.
