Very pretty piece, but 780 HP out of a normally aspirated 427, even with Webers, is a little hard to swallow.

Well, at 199.5K it's certainly a good 'investment' for somebody.

red, you might want a couple cases! It'd be cool to have a fully polished car.. except on sunny days. Bet it's easy to tell if people were fingering your car while you weren't around! haha

The reflection hits the other guy
Believe it or not the polished finish does not reflect back on the driver in the sun. I bet it blinds others around you however. Think its the way the body of the car curves away from the driver and the lack of flat surfaces?

This particular 4000 is likely a Kirkham sourced body. In the past there were a couple of other sources for alloy bodies, but those are pretty rare examples. I think today Kirkham is the sole source.

That appears to be the James Baldwin built car. If so it WILL be flawless and exceptional. You can argue about the price all day long....

Wow what a price!
At 200k it will be around for awhile. You could source two KMS 289 and 427 with similar appointments and buy a winter beater to boot. I would choose the second option just in case Shelby American is not closing up shop.
The real question is whether or not the CSX continuation cars will ever be collectable? As long as they are being produced I can't see how they could be. Maybe Vegas is closed, will the next location change yet again to create a different car? I doubt it, smoke and mirrors I say.
It's a replication, a great one, yet it is really only worth what you can get for it. Reps are worth the sum of their parts...sometimes labor if it is the right source.

Yes, I am also waiting to see if it sells for that amount... I would be kicking myself for not asking more when I sold it to the current owner.
Thanks for the nice words Dave...
I have received about 40 emails over the past few months about it so I guess this is as good of time to answer some of the most common questions.
* I have no involvement in the current sale. I sold it to a collector in FL.
* The facts posted are not mine... they are from the current marketer
* Horsepower (when I owned it) is about 740 before the injection system and not likely any higher unless the new owner did something different to the computer or dyno. Injection adds torque but not much if any horsepower.
* Do a search on this site from Keith Craft about the engines he built for me and you will have the facts. CSX4331 had that Keith Craft engine in it when I sold it.
* No I did not make 4 more cars (reference to the 1 of 5 comment in the ad)
* No I am not Motion Motorsports (a reference to Baldwin Motion I guess) but the current marketer may just not have had that clarification.
* Yes it is a Kirkham body (#305 I believe) and it is one of the straighest you will find
I have tried to stay quiet on this because I don't fault anyone who tries to resell something but I wanted to clarify that it is no longer mine and I have nothing to do with the current sale. I don't know the marketer but I do not think he is trying to pull anything over on anyone because the car is pretty nice (of course I am biased)
On another note... the Shelby/Kirkham market has softened a bit lately but there are signs of it coming back as I have 2 searches for aluminum Kirkhams right now ( a nice change over the past 6 months) for people with serious budgets. There is a very nice blue CSX on Ebay right now that is priced very well, and another polished Shelby for sale privately for $175K (webers, custom leather interior) so they are all over the board.
All the best.
James

Think "Sales Guy" for a moment:
The $199 is the "anchor price". Studies have shown that people will get a value lodged in their heads and it will influence their willingness to pay. It may sound strange, but one study would spin a roulette type wheel with numbers on it, then ask the participant in the study how many countries their are on the continent of Africa. Inevitably, the response would be near or related to the number that just came up on the roulette wheel. I'm not making this stuff up. See Kanneman & Traversky, Stanford Univeristy (I think I spelled their names correctly.). The seller probably doesn't expect $199, (but would take it if you walked up and gave it to him, of course) but wants to provide an air of exclusivity to the car with a high anchor price. This also could evolve into an ego thing: "Aw, shucks, I'm not going to snivel over a mere $50k..."
There has also been a study recently that showed no correlation between having gobs of money and having a high IQ...
The other "psychological' factor in this price is that it's $199, not $200. Of course, everyone is familar with this tactic.

...or...he could just be misinformed.
He already thinks the Vegas plant is closed...and that James is Joel Rosen.
