that is just it I currently run BF Goodrich DRAG TA Radials on rear, 275x50x15.
but just a bit to tall and not so good for a street / Highway fun run, rather put something on there in case I hit rain. save the Drag TAs for strip

BF Goodrich 235 60R 15 Front, 295 50R 15 rear. Some say these tires throw rocks. Haven't experienced this yet.

He Lew,
One of the guys here in Tulsa just bought a set of the Mickey Thompson Indy style tires for his Cobra and claims they are a lot stickier than the Goodyear Eagle II's he took off. I think they may be a little pricey though.

Hi Lew!
I ordered a set of the replica bias ply, non-DOT Goodyear billboards for my ERA:
http://www.rogerkraustires.com/Cobra/
Mine are the ones in group "B" - haven't used them yet, car is not done
I see Roger carries 15" Avon, Hoosier, etc also. His stock tends to depend on Goodyear's irregular production schedule.
Good luck!

If you are looking for excellent street tires that are very true (round and balanced) the Yokohama Avid S/T is a great tire. I replaced the Dunolp's I had on my Unique FIA with Yoko's and they were outstanding on the street and OK for limited track use (they are not slicks!!). I just ordered two 235 *15*60's for the front of my new ERA and two 295 * 50 * 15's for the rear. Summit Racing has the front diam and Tire Rack has the rear. Excellent tire and very reasonable prices ($60 for the front and $100 for the rears(. RD

The Yokos are a far better tire than are the BFGs.

These MT's look good....
http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s...em=SportsmanSR
H rated (130 MPH) should give decent street adhesion, 26x12 (295-50)-15
and 26x10 (245-60)-15. Anything should be better than the BFG's! I think the GY billboards are way overpriced, but look great on the car.
Lewis: I think it is gonna be hard to find a tire shorter than 25.8" to run on a Cobra without a rim change.

If you are willing to spend the money, you will not find a better 15" street/track tire for your Cobra than the Avon CR6ZZ. They are worth every penny.

Sportsman SR
I have a set of the Mickey Thompsons' on my SPF.
Their OK but not great when it's dry.
But they are a nightmare in the rain,
I completed the 2007 Hot Rod Power Tour with them, It rained 3 days and they sucked. I even got sideways at 45 MPH lugging it in 4th gear.
I'm reading this post to find a better tire, the Mickeys days are numbered...

Lew........SPF1061 is right! if you want the best tire for 15' wheels......Avon is the best!! pricey, but what price is worth total safety??? however, i run the BFG's currently, until i switch over.and they are fine for street, look good, but have limitations, of course. The Yoko's are the best optional tire in the range..as they are 'T' rated.....118 vs the BFG's and GYears 2's....which are 's' rated......112! Course......these ratings are based on diff. cars or trucks......and will go faster and better than on those vehicles...but either way..........tires in '15' are limited! I also have PHil Smith's wheels...as he is only a few miles from me.....and makes the best , in my opinion. so, look around....and see......275 or 295....are good. shorter tires are available......i put the MT Sportsman's on for about 10 minutes......didn't like the look..at all...at least for me.....so now just deciding when to go AVons...
hope that helps..................

What do you like about the Avon tires? How is the wear factor? Since you said they are a good street/track tire, would they lean more toward track or street in wear, stickiness, etc.? I have no experience with Avon tires.

You can still get them if you shop around. I just bought a set 2 weeks ago. Two from Summit and Two from Tire Rack. Do a google search to see who still has stock. I heard about them being discontinued the week that I took delivery. I had them on an earlier cobra and they were excellent and very reasonably priced. Rickd

Not 100% sure, but I think TireRack discontinued carrying the Avids, but Yoko still makes them.

Scott Black, I asked the same question about wear and was informed that traction and predictability equal safety. Unless your on the track eating rubber I think the few miles most of us recreational drivers (2-3k miles anually) don't put enough miles to worry about wear. We certainly don't need a 40k tire. That changed the way I was thinking about it. If I was into smokey burnouts I would opt for a cheap tire but I'm not.
My car came with well used BFG's and I have added about 7k miles in 3 1/2 years. They still have not shown extreme wear. But new tires are on my want list. It may just take me awhile before Im ready.

You can still get a few thru tire rack via yoko directly, but they want to charge me double shipping for each tire...yoko to them, then, them to me!!!
Would not drop ship them from yoko to me!
Just bought 2 more 295's locally for 119.00/no shipping!
I had just bought the last 4 off tire rack last month, I am also the one who posted a thread on the unique forum about them being discontinued!
