Default Bullet best chase movie

I just saw the movie Bullet with Steve McQueen. For me it is one of, if not the best chase scene of all time. I saw a review listing all the bloopers of this chase scene and when bloopers are pointed out it is pretty bad with how chopped up and with the same cars being passed etc. I do not care I still love anyway . All the bloopers are pointed out here http://www.geocities.com/ottopallone...es/bullit.html and the YouTube clip is here www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z-sj3SzZkM
I think the Stang was a 68 , anybody else know what year it is for sure and what engine? It sounds good anyway

I think the chase seen in the "Seven Ups" is better. Cars aren't as cool.

Thanks for the links

I'd never actually seen that before. It was pretty lame IMO, compared to all the hype I've heard over the years.

I think the original Gone in Sixty Seconds has that beat easy.

BTW, that Charger sure had a lot of hubcaps!!

I turned on the TV last night at about 9:15 PM. I flipped thru the channels and guess what? The chase scene from Bullet was just starting. Watched the chase and then continued surfing thru the channels.

I really like the chase scene in "Ronan".

Ronan does have a great car chase seen.

From my childhood I like The Seven Ups. At least they didn't pass the same two cars over and over again.

Did you notice that the sound track in the Seven Up's chase was the same as in Bullet?

Yeah, I think that was the standard car chase sound bite. I also like how the cars go open exhaust as soon as they start to chase. before then they are quiet.

68, 390 GT. put out a reported 335 hp. Had the 67 version. Had a lot of people that would not believe it was stock and refused to pay. Never go to red line shift at max HP.

I watched the 7 ups clip and it was a good chase. Not the right way to make a car into a convertible though. The passenger makes a good bad guy and is always cast as such.
Ronan was good although Gone in 60 was better for my 2 cents but Bullet still works for me. What are they going to do a few more years down the road for the CHASE movies? Somehow I just can not picture it in a Subaru or other import and the sound track??? What can you expect to get from the fart can mufflers to work with. A throaty V8 dubbed in won't work even played backwards. Thanks Guys

Default Bullitt makes me crazy

I hated the chase scene in Bullitt... It is classic car abuse

I think the thing I like about the Bullet chase is there's no music and no one speaks. The grim determined looks on their faces and the soundtrack of reving engines and squealing tyres really give a sense of tension.

I have to put my vote in for the chase in the original Italian Job.

Cheers

IMO, Ronin set the modern bar for car chases - but just as the supercars of today are vastly superior to the Cobra technologically, you simply can't improve on the original. Ergo - Bullitt will probably always be the "best" car chase ever filmed.

The best thing about Bullet is they didn't speed up any cameras to get the shots. No cranking speed is the term they used I think. Yeah that Charger lost lots of hubcaps and the Mustang did have some work done to it according to the DVD special features, or disk 2. I also had the '67 version of the Mustang and it was so nose heavy that it actually drove better with the throttle. Bullet was good but with more budget Ronin was even better. To Live and Die in LA wasn't bad either. Gone in 60 Seconds wins the award for pure abuse and destruction of cars. Let us not forget that Gumball Ralley had our favorite car in it, even though they tore it up a lot also.

Ronin numero uno, but Bullitt is always going to be cool cuz of Frisco. Also like The Rock for that reason.

Thumbs up

IMHO, Bullitt is and always will be the best chase scene. I was in high school at the time the movie came out. The favorite discusion at the time always turned to the cars in the movie. The Mustang was a '68 with a 390, as snakebitekit said, and the Charger was a '68 also, with a 440 in it. Great car chase! I watched it too, on the weekend.

Pure destruction - The Blues Brothers. Loved the scene where they destroyed that shopping mall.
