Not really an accident as she really put the right foot into it. Lack of understanding of the car lead to that accident.

Being guilty of doing similiar thing, I have been careful not to keep my boot into it though - we all know the results.

As owners and drivers of these cars we forget that the first time we drove our first Cobra we also may have struggled a bit. Although I am sure few if any of us drink then drive a Cobra, let alone any other car.

I let my sister drive my car last weekend with me riding shotgun. She knows how to drive a stick, but she struggled to run my car gracefully, actually painful at points. We forget about the little things like to off-set peddals, fuel pump switch, etc. that can confuse a new Cobra driver.

Glad to hear she is OK. Wonder how much an entire new glass shell is for Superformance?

Do you think that just the front end can be repaired without changing out the whole body?

shoving throttle down on take off and on return when took foot out of it engine didn,t respond-turned off ignition quickly, pulled off, had to be linkage, and it was--had left small can of brake fluid on engine after topping off all master cyl., when I accel. it tipped under linkage. Never felt so dumb in my days.Will-alabama

threads like this are depressing... I won't say anything bad about the driver, as I have no first-hand knowledge. But it's things like this could make the future tougher for a lot of the other Cobra owners. What I do know is that, as a newbie cobra owner, the car scared the crap out of me (in a good way) when I first started looking at them... and it still does (now that I own one) to a degree. I never drove one before I bought one... just had the seller take me for a ride. It was the grin plastered across my face during the high-G thrill rides that made me pursue buying a Cobra. There's just nothing like the experience.

I never asked to drive any of the cars I looked at (tho a few sellers offerred) for several reasons...

first, I know how picky & particular I am about my own cars, much less one with the performance of a Cobra. Damaging my own car is one thing... damaging someone else's is an entirely different matter.

second, I hadn't driven a stick in almost 3 years & didn't want to embarrass myself OR the owner by poor (rusty) technique. I drove a 4 cylinder/5 speed Ford Ranger for 7 years, which in no way resembled the driving characteristics of the Cobra- save for the requisite hand/foot coordination.

I applaud all the Cobra owners who exercise the responsibility of a thorough interview & the right to refuse test drives to potential Cobra purchasers. Should the time ever come, I plan to follow suit.

Seems every time I'm out, a Z06 will chase me down & pull up next to me at a light. Street challenges seem to be the order of the day. I have NO interest in pursuing these endeavors. I don't have to impress anyone. I bought the Cobra because I absolutely love the car, not due to some insecurity. I do want to be able to drive it properly, but not for the purposes of street racing. It's just not worth the risk to me.

I was pleasantly surprised how easy the Cobra was to drive, PROVIDED you have a strong left leg (stiff clutch) and a gentle right foot. It's been about 4 weeks now & all is proceeding well. A few jerky starts initially (as I got use to the clutch takeup), but no stalling-out or ground gears. I planned from day one to attend a high performance driving course, and am narrowing down the choices.

Speaking of which, can anyone offer a testimonial on the Racing Adventures Stage 1 driving course? Is most appealing to me, as they use the Factory Five Spec Racers- which should reasonably approximate the driving dynamics of my Backdraft.

Note:

Install MSD Digital 6 ignition system. Use the switched 2nd rev limiter set at 2500rpm and this problem could be avoided in the future for the novice drivers, first time drivers, valet, etc...

I've seen some pretty interesting surgeries performed on these cars. They can often times just 'glass in a front clip and repair the other parts from the doors back.

She smacked that parked car pretty good and then rode up onto the back end. Definitely suspension damage, possibly a tweaked frame, and we haven't gotten to the engine (oil pan) yet. This will easily be a $25K fix-it for someone after all is said and done.

Probably 10 years ago, I was very close to ordering an FFR, so I called them and asked if they knew of anyone with one close to me, I'd like to talk to the owner and see the finished product...They gave me the name and phone # of an FFR owner (with his permission) and I contacted him and he was more than happy to show me the car and even let me test drive it.....We set a date and one nice saturday morning I drove 2.5 hours to see the car......after looking over the car a while we went out for a ride, this was a bone stock FFR build, all of 225hp!!!!!!!!!!! that car was very fast for what he had in it and after a while he offered to let me drive it...we pulled into the back side of a mall parking lot that was pratically empty and switched places.... I drove around the parking lot for about 15 minutes, probably did not get out of second gear, getting the feel of the steering and brakes.....Then we headed to his house, about another 15 minutes away...I drove carefully, probably did not go past 3000 rpms going thru the gears and never exceded the posted speed limit..

I could not imagine anyone taking a new or used car out on the road for their first ride and stomping on it, just plain STUPID.....each car has it perks and the FFR certainly did,took me a while to get used to the feel of the brakes and steering, never did get used to that backwards shifter, had a hard time finding the gears and I've driven 4 and 5 speed cars/trucks all my life.........

What that women did in the video was just plain stupid, I don't care about her car, just glad she did not take out anyone, it could have been a lot worse, suppose it was one of our wife's with our kids in the car with their mom coming from the opposite direction when she lost it and crossed the center line????????

This took place in Houston. I don't know for sure if there were any adult beverages involved although it takes place outside a local "Ice House" on W. Alabama and Hazard . How about the name of that street to crash your cobra on? Speculate all you want, it's a shame to see that happen to a car like that , *oops, sorry, I mean I'm glad no one was hurt. There is a list of blonde jokes several pages long that could go along with this posting, I'm sure if I think about it long enough I could come up with another one to add to that list. I believe the car has been fixed although I haven't seen it lately. Those SPF's are tough cars. The one she hit didn't fair as well.

After watching video a couple of times on a couple of threads, is it me, or does the passenger side door actually come open at about 59.5 seconds into the video, just before 'takeoff'? If that was the case, maybe they reached over to close it, and used the accelerator as a 'step'(?) And if they were holding the steering wheel at the bottom with left hand and stetched to the right, that might explain the [u]quick[u] almost 90 degree left turn(?) At any rate, it is good that no oncoming or pedestrian traffic was struck.
