Herbie Hancock & CSX 2006
The Sept 2007 edition of Road & Track on page 116 has an article " The Watermelon Man The Cobra " The article title comes from the music, Watermelon Man, written by Herbie in April 1963 as a 22 year old for which he received a $3000 royalty check.
The article is not yet available on R & T's web site, and is indexed in the Features section of the magazine
Herbie was persuaded by another jazz musician to purchase a Cobra, ........ " told me Cobra was kicking Ferrari's..........
Purchased was CSX 2006, the sixth production Cobra ever built, Old English White, red leather interior, silver wire wheels, 245 bhp 260 CI engine and is the only known Cobra ever equipped with a two barrel carburetor. With 70,000 miles the Cobra has been in storage since 1990 and the 67 year old Hancock celebrated his 44th year of ownership , making him the longest original Cobra owner except for Carroll Shelby himself who still owns prototype CSX 2000
The above information are just a very few excerpts from the article.
