Steve, you didn't pour 800 yeards, your crew poured 800 yards. You stood and watched and nit-picked as they did it, then you wrote checks!

Yesterday I got up at 5:30 am and took my five year old to the Cars-n-Coffee event in Irvine. At 2:30 I left for the John Force Cruise-In in Yorba Linda. Got home at 7:30, changed, and took my wife out to a nice steak dinner back at Ruth's Cris in Irvine. Busy day for the coupe!

I work at a marina. Got up at 3:30. Have to be there by 4:30. Fueled a few 60 footers and straightened up around the marina. Got off at 1:30 and polished my rims and side pipes.

Put the Cobra up on jack stands and removed the wheels.
Getting my hip replaced at 7:30 tomorrow morning. Got her half disassembled so during recovery, I can polish the wheels and change the brake pads.

MadMiles - Best of luck with the surgery! They'll be kicking your butt to get up and walk in no time!

Let's see....yesterday I did a bunch of junk that I've been ignoring around the house. At around 5:00 pm I jumped in the Cobra and within 1 minute I was cruising North on Highway 1 out of Santa Cruz towards Half Moon Bay. Beautiful evening, no fog...it doesn't get any better than that.

Hey Doug,

I can't believe they gave all the trophies to a bunch of Mopars. Those Corvette guys ain't got a clue.

Anyway, on the way back from Force's, one of my wheel studs backs out and gets tangled up in the e-brake and locks the rear up up. So here we are on the side of the road and this pickup comes skidding to a stop, three guys jump out, and one starts barking orders to everybody. "Get these people some water", "Get the floor jack out", "Get this thing over to my house - I've got a lift", "Where's my tools". What a scene! Anyway, an hour later, I'm back on the road (with four studs and no left e-brake).

Everything is fixed already, Maybe I'll check the other studs. Hmmm.

You meet the nicest people in a Cobra.

Brian

Brian,
Glad to hear everything is OK! Guess you figured out that I took a wrong turn trying to get to the 91... Oh well, guess I need to get a nav system for the coupe! Great to meet you this weekend and see you again soon! Try to stay of the bottle!

Hey Doug,

Stay off the bottle? You gotta be kidding. That stuff is addicting! I'm going through about 5 lbs. a week. After considerable experimentation, I have decided that 700-725 Hp. is the perfect number for a Cobra. Not stupid fast - just enough.

Sorry to hijack your thread Edley.

No problem, Brian. I like these "open-ended" threads, that people can come back to every now and then, let us know what they're up to.

(I oughta bring back the "Altoids or ?" thread!!! lol !!!)

Blykins

You shouldn't feel icky from degreeing a cam in any kind of engine---after all it is a process to make something more exact in a sport (gearhead) where every little thing adds up to more perfection.

These days, many engines don't have a single part from the original brand manufacture, whether it is a Ford, GM, or Mopar----

Just last week we delivered a engine to a GM ( Chev ) fanatic and I asked him if he had always been a GM follower, he answered YES, I told him that long ago I realized that the crankshaft didn't know what the valve covers said and that there wasn't one single piece in his new 540 bbc that was made by GM---Dart block, Callies crank and rods, Edelbrock heads, etc--not a single item---

The same applies to many of the Ford and Chrysler engines we build---there is probably more from Chrysler in the 500 hemis we build but not a single part that was probably ever in a production car---except the Honda rod bearings, maybe----

But back to the thread, yesterday was Monday, and it left me more confused than the usual messed up Monday---I actually talked to a customer care representive from the gas company who was nice, I could understand her, and she could see right away that the 7953 meter reading in June and the zero they had entered as a meter reading a month ago for July and the 7980 cf reading this month didn't actually mean that I had used 10,000cf of gas to run our water heater in July/August=======all that in contrast to the hours and hours on hold, speaking to someone in India about our new HP computer that won't work, transferred to Canada, lost connections, etc

But I did balance an engine, pin fit some rods, hang the pistons and later deliver the engine to a customer---he has a radio talk show on Saturday mornings and my history came up on a recent show and he asked me to be his guest this Saturday morning, so I'll have to get up earlier than usual.

Smile sweating

I spend the last two mornings nailing up plywood on the walls of the new addition to my shop. The shop is now 50' x 50', almost big enough. Got to make room for Coach Mike's new Shell Valley Coupe. He should pick it up next week. It's below a 100 degrees this week. The first 3 weeks of August it has been 99 to 107. Of course I waited till August to add on to my shop. I'm to old for this xxxx! I had to pull half of the roof off the old shop and was worried about rain. Ha, It has not rain in a month. But I did finish drying in the shop an hour before a little rain storm. This week it's going to be in the low 90's. Cool wave here in North Alabama!!!!!!!!!!
Now I can drive the Cobra late in the evening.

Dwight

that kind of work sounds nice; just back from sunny florida, so after basking in the 100degF plus sunshine for two weeks, now readjusting to an overcast 45degF and that 4 letter word (work)

put the car on stands and started to install the fender liners,. washed and cleaned inner fenders. cleaned with degreaser and let dry. peeled back the adhesive backing and positioned in fenders. 4 hours later I thought I was finished. The adhesive backed liners were not sticking very well. pulled them all out and installed wheels back on.. going for a drive now!!!! looking for spray adhesive tomorrow..
