Most tachs will work with that box. Which tach do you want to run?

I have need to replace my SW. Somehow I manged to fry the **** thing and I need a replacement.

It worked fine for a while until I had a problem ( my fault ) with the MSD. After I replaced the MSD box the tach never worked again.

Come to think of it, I could have rewired the tach wrong.

Maybe someone could help me out.

Here are the the lables on the treminals of the unit:

SIG
BATT
GND

and a seletor swithch with the following positions.

A 4cyl
B 6cyl
C 8cyl
D Alt 12 pole
E None

I have the tach wire from the MSD connected to the SIG terminal
The BATT terminal has switched 12V on it and the ground is grounded on the aluminum dash ( like all of my other gauges are).

The needle either wanders or settles on 7k rpm.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Sounds like it could be a bad ground. Check the ground and connections. Or, the problem with the earlier MSD box could have damaged the tach. Check your ground and then go from there.

Sometimes you may need a MSD tach adapter. I also needed a capacitor to run my tach. Call MSD there tech support is very good.
