Default Creating a Cobra info. spreadsheet...

I am interested in putting together a spreadsheet of Cobra Replicas on the road nationwide detailing the specifics of each car. This would include data such as make, year, color, drive train info, HP and torque, owner name, forum name, location, contact info (if desired), links to photos (?), along with many other details.

I would put together a survey (with forum input) that could be e-mailed or linked to owners, and then compile received data into a spreadsheet. This would then be made available to the forum members.

This would enable people to sort by location, color, engine type, or any other aspect, allowing a comparison what is out there more easily. I realize that this may not be something that existing owners would use much, but for the many members (including myself) that are “shopping”, this could be a very valuable tool.

In order for this to work, we would need participation from many existing owners. I think if we could get at least 50 cars, it would be worthwhile. I could process a few hundred cars over time, but I doubt that the response what be that high.

I would also like to establish critical dimensions for the various manufacturers, either by getting information direct from the OEM, or through data from owners. Easy items such as wheelbase, and more difficult items such foot box dimensions, leg room, etc.

I am looking for a little feed back at this point to see if it makes sense to continue.

Thanks,

Mark

Sounds cool.. I'd like to just see a spreadsheet of ALL cobra owners and their car #'s and locations. It alone could help out with the new buyer to view some cobras in person, maybe get a ride along even. One of the Hurricane owners made this, his screen name here is rcassidy, you gotta click on "HM registry"

Default Oh Well

Thanks FSST and Mick. I was hoping to put together something more detailed, but there is obviously very minimal interest.

I tried. It's dead. Oh Well.

I have spent quite a few hours on my spreadsheet that mickmate mentioned above. If you want to add some additional information, go ahead. If you want me to enter the additional info, you could always mail it to me.

But there are currently 85 manufacturers with web sites on my list. The first thing is that we would need a list of questions we could send to all the manufacturers. Based upon the number of questions posted on this forum, I think adding information regarding the seat to pedals dimensions would be a nice addition.

As far as a Cobra registry, that would be cool. I'm sure that could be set up with the help of the manufacturers. But someone needs to do the work. I am willing to help you put a registry together. I know there is an SPF registry. Maybe you could put together a list of names/tel#/e-mail addresses of the person that has the registry list for each manufacturer. That would be a good first step IMHO.

Warren,

I did not mean to minimize the importance of the spreadsheet you put together. I have that printed out from months back all highlighted for places I want to visit.

Thanks for your offer of help. My first task was going to be getting info from the individual owners. I have attached a first pass at a survey. This could be modified to go out to the manufacturers as well. I attached in zip as I do not see excel format as valid.

Let me know what you think. Obvioulsy this one will take support from the owners. You could be the first

That looks cool. TONS of info, but how would you catagorize it? I mean, if you had thousands of entires, how do I find the one I want? For instance, if I wanted to know how many cobra in say a 50 or 100mile radius of me?

1000s of entries Right now I am working on #1!

Seriously though, even if there were 1000s of entries, you could sort the spreadsheet by city or state and see what is near to you. If we really had that many, you could add a region like northern CA, Central CA, Southern CA, etc.....

Another example is if you want to see all ERA or Kirkham cobras, you sort by manufacturer. Excel also has a feature called Auto Filter, where you can pick what you want from a drop down menu. This feature would isolate the cars that fit the filter and show all the related data fields for just those cars.
