Question Engine install

Can the engine and transmission be installed as a one piece unit on a new install into a Superformance? Is it necessary to raise the vehicle off of the ground for this work or can it all be done from the top side?

Thanks.

I installed the motor block, with rotating assembly, and trans as one piece. Once in I assembled the rest of the motor.

I am getting ready for my install. You drop the engine and trans in as one complete unit. I believe you can also mount one of the headers, and leave the other in the engine compartment for hook up after the drop. Also check this out for general reference.

Thanks for the information. It doesn't seem to be a big problem. Good luck with your installation. My car should arrive in about one week, and the engine about a week later. Are you going to do the complete installation and finishing yourself? Some people recommend a professional installer do the work, but I don't see that it is too difficult. I wonder what the reasons are?

Having seen the SPF engine bay and footwells I think you should be good.

Just cover anything that may be scratched or marked.

I use a chain block and have the transmission down and then pull it up as it drops into place

Hi Dream - yes I am doing the install myself (with the help of someone that has already done theirs...plus he has a hoist and engine lift ) Once the powertrain is in, I will bring the car home and finish all of the odds and ends over the winter. My Roush engine should be ready in a few weeks.
