Terlingua Cobra?
So I've seen the Terlingua Mustangs, but what about a Cobra? I've found info that the car pictured below was done in 1966, but can't find any racing info or history on it.
Bill Neale had 5 (out of 10 scheduled) of these built in the mid 1990's, but those were tribute cars. They've scattered to different collectors and museums.
Anyone have any info on this ghost?

There is a painting called "Bitten by the Snake" that shows Dan Gurney in a black cobra along with CS in a blue cobra and phil hill in a Daytona. The black cobra looks exactly like to photo in your post only I believe the number on the car is 15.

A good guess would be that the painting was done by Bill Neale.
I don't think there ever was an original Cobra that wore or raced with that livery.
There was a plan to make 'tribute cars' using CSX4000 platforms.
Here's an old post about it:

I saw the first completed car and the 2nd car maybe halfway finished in March of 1998. I think one car was headed to the Peterson Museum, and it was built out of sequence as the last number of the group. I have no idea where the cars are today or their owners.

I think you are speaking about CSX2128. The 'famous' "Hey Little Cobra" album cover.

The Terlingua Cobra and 'my' Cobra are different cars.

If I am not mistaken that was more of a Mustang thing.
A bit of humor with the "Fighting Rabbit" logo being seen on the fenders of GT 350's...

Well, now I am confused. I see the painting done my Bill Neale, but the copy I have is done by Danny Day. The two paintings look the same but I've never seen this before with two artists claiming originals.
That album cover is exactly the car shown on the painting. The only reason I picked Dan Gurney as the driver is because he's the one who autographed the painting hanging on my wall. CS autographed the blue cobra and Phill Hill the Daytona.

Here's the one you have...this is NOT a Bill Neale pic...it is by Danny Day.
And the car is not the Terlingua...but is the HLC car shown above by A-Snake...
...and Dan Gurney did drive THAT car at Sebring.

Not really a "Fighting Rabbit", he is holding up his right front foot to say "Hold the chili peppers in the chili."

Here's the whole story of the logo, quite funny:
The press release, found in Shelby American Issue #44 of the SAAC news magazine, explains the significance of the crest, "The rabbit thrives in the Big Bend and being fast of foot was picked to dominate the design. He's holding up his right front foot to say "Hold the chili peppers in the chili." The sun is there 'cause it always is in the Big Bend Country. The feathers represent the three Indian tribes, Commanches, Apaches and Kiowa, that lived in the area and were responsible for the Terlingua name. 1860 was the year of the first known race. It was a horse-drawn wagon race over what is now referred to as the wetback expressway." From http://www.carmemories.com/cgi-bin/v...perience_id=94
I got the 1966 date from an old black and white photo I found on one extremely deep Google search. Now I can't find that photo or link. Sam Adams and I were just bopping around the net late one night and I stumbled upon it.
I saw it on the die-cast model car and the Johnny Lightning car too, but that only helped to (kinda) confirm it for me.
From all I find, Mustangs are the only car described with the Terlingua Team on them.
So how did the model makers and die-cast makers come up with the same car, #71, which is different than the 5 Bill Neale tribute cars? (different car parts decals, different racing numbers, etc.)
I'm thinking this #71 car existed somewhere, sometime.

I could be wrong, but I thought that Ken Miles drove a blue cobra with white stripes at some point (perhaps just one race?) with a terlingua rabbit sticker on the side. I thought it might have been 3002. Maybe that was just in a dream...

Well, at least one of the CSX4000 tribute cars was painted "God-Awful Yellow"
http://www.marblesmotors.com/galleries.htm
Here's Bill Wells driving #1/10 of the tribute cobras in the Texas 1000 several years ago. Check out the font of the number on the side. Matches the font of the #71 car. I'm starting to think the #71 car was one of these tribute cars and the model makers took off on that.
Anyone with any info, pipe in!

That's an FIA car, not a 4000.

The #71 Terlingua Cobra CSX4071 car was the 2nd car built of the total of 6 produced. I purchased the car from Bill Neale and Jack Bell in 1998, Johnny Lighting produced a die cast copy of my car in 2001 based on photo's taken in a article in Sports Car International. I still own the car,the photos posted in the gallery are a copy of my car.
