Default What involvement does your wife/G/f have

with you toys?

reason I ask is got me a great little G/F and even though she denied the full kitchen pass this weekend to help Sammy she is willing to learn how to work on cars, she loves them (Yes she is a Ford Girl) so raised a interesting question about your significant other, so please feel free to share any stories.

Trina is willing to help from time to time. She actually likes the cars, and I think likes working on certain aspects, but does not want to be "That Car Chick". She is pretty creative and has been able to come up with solutions when I have been stuck on figuring something out. Not quite helping with almost anything, but close.

My wife loves the car and plans trips we take, helps with the repairs and even washes the car with me.

Not only is she my wife of 27 years, but she is my best friend.

Default Good Things in Life

Sandy (wife for 42 years) goes to all of my track days and sets up shop in the trailer. She knits or reads and tells me how good I did.
I, on the other hand, go to all of her craft shows and carry the "stuff".
Life is great!

I knew we would have the "She supports me with my hobby" and the "occasional help, planning of events" or even the "she will help when it's with in her reach and ability" but not enough poll choices to add everything, so thats why I encouraged stories about your partners involvement.

My wife is a great supporter of all my hobbie's. She love's all the car events, show's, trips ect. She also support's my other hobby with dirt bikes. She tries to go to all the races. She doesn't normally help with repairs, but gives me the time to take care of all the toys.
She also picked out the car and told me to get it.

My wife, Jo, said I couldn't have a Harley so she told me "go and buy a Shelby Cobra instead", so I did. I love that woman!!
Her involvement is packing up great lunches, and having me help her in and out of it over the "pipes". And I don't complain when she comes home with more shoes. A great agreement!!

She doesn't have much to do with it at all other than irritate me when I am working on it. She hates car shows and anything to do with them. All I get from her is "It's boring". Which is fine with me, I would rather go without her. After 35 years she pretty much does her thing and I do mine.

Crystal is pretty supportive. She feels like I spend a little too much time in the garage from time to time, but she is also willing to learn! Before I left, i had her laying under the expedition changing the oil! She's going to help me with the cobra some too! When i was younger, she used to help me fiberglass subwoofer enclosures. One time we glassed the entire back seat of my car which later housed 4 15" subs. It turned out great! She didn't complain once! She's not really technical but she is always willing to learn!

dutifully voted, thanks for the special category.

He is HAPPY when i go to car things, and almost always without him. I have now gotten him to attend 2 events in 3 1/2 years. (gives him some space, and the house is more 'relaxed' when i'm not home. )
He patiently looks at my pictures, listens glassy eyed to my track day retellings, and smiles and nods at all the right times.

He tolerates the Cobra, rides around on cool nights.
He enjoys the '65 Mustang, better conversation, date car than the Cobra.
He actually likes the 500.

I think i 'did good' letting him drive the 500 the first couple of days i got it. He hasn't driven it since, (and won't ) but at least he's acquainted with it.

He's a good guy and supportive of my hobby. I don't know if i should be more afraid of him having a wrench in his hand or me.
probably me... I'd try to figure out what to do and he wouldn't even come near it. I'd probably mess something up for sure!

so. zero involvement. And that's good....
I don't go hunting or to the farm with him, he doesn't go to car shows or events with me.
Our time together ( ) is at kids events. And there is plenty of that! We'll be spending our 22 anniversary Friday night sitting in the stands at the varsity football game. Unless i'm working concession stands or he works the 'sticks'.

No Cobra yet, but soon.

My wife is hands off in the garage, but has known since before we were married that a Cobra was in my future. Better than a mistress I always say.....

Her latest quote is:
"I always dreamed of you building a Cobra, but not actually driving one!" She is worried about safety, but our deal is no motorcycles, so the Cobra passes.

Oh and we have already remodeled the kitchen, bathrooms, the back yard, and the rest of the house, so all that's left is the Cobra. That's my story...

Her six figure income contribution doesn't hurt, either. Basically we each get what we want, and everyone is happy

My wife is very supportive of my hobbies, she not hands on, other than helping to clean, always asking me when the car will be done[going on 4 yrs] ,to we never do anything together, just got back from a trip [typical women] wouldn't trade her for the world

My little lady loves cruisin, lookin, and driving but her support is very hands off,She wants to be near the shop doing her drawing and other artsy things so her studio is just the other side of the wall from my shop in the same building. I will be building her a 1949 Ford F3 custom while I am building the cobra, plusss she's a GREAT cook.

Default For sure my better half!!!

My wife Mary my only sweaty for 26+ years is a real Gem she has supported me over the years autoxing and circle tack racingwere she has done some driving also ,she is really pretty good but wont admit it.I have to tell this story Ive told this a thousand times because im so proud of her strengths. We were going racing one weekend and I discoverd the engine had a problem,I thought we could get by just changing the rod bearings before we raced,so I ask her if you could pull the pan and undo the rods il go ontop and pull the head and intake and so on .Well it all worked out as we were putting it all back together mom and dad came by and the first thing out of moms mouth was Mary is that you under ther and though the grease and oil with a smirk on her face, yep its me mom though all the miles driven and trophies won on track that moment of pure determination to help me get the job done will stay as my biggest trophey my wife Mary Kay!!!!ps she will be at runngun this year to,I love you sweaty..WildBill3

My wife, Amy, thought it was the most beautiful car she'd ever seen. But it rides really rough, is smelly and messes up her hair. And then the UPS packages started arriving. Then the Sydney trip got postponed. More UPS boxes. Then the Maui trip got postponed.
I admit I mis-managed the whole situation, but my wife really hates the car now. She's never learned to drive it (just for emergencies) and would probably call a cab before doing so. I can't trade enough massages and she doesn't have enough finger or toenails to swap for the $$ I've spent. (mostly discretionary)
I now mirror Kristen's behavior, she does her thing, I do Cobra things. There's no pressure so she's happier, I'm happier cause she's not griping that her hair's messed up.

PS - My girlfriend thinks it's the sexiest thing in the world!!

Well my wife of 46 years does not like cars that much ,she like comfort in a car and a quiet ride. But I have always wanted a cobra
When we got married in 1961 I had a chance to buy a 289 HI PO cobra in 1982 for $8000.
When I came home and told her ,what I wanted to do ,she said are you crazy our house only cost $10500 -forget about it .
Of course now she is sorry.
I still drive my cobra without her .From a happy cobra owner

Arrow I think she knows!

I have posted this before, but I thought it belonged here also. This happened about a year ago:

"I've only had my Cobra since last weekend, I brought it home on Sat. Thank you very much. So this evening after dinner I wander out to the garage to spend a little quality quiet time with my car, while my wife watches the latest episode of American Survivor or what ever on TV.

After about 20 min. my dear sweet wife of 30+ years of marriage comes out and sits in the car. She looks around the car and says:
"This is a beautiful car, If I ever catch you ****ing around, I will own this and my attorney will be driving it!" and walks out!"

I think she knows!

jdog
P.S. That's a true story!

My wife loves to go for drives in the Cobra. She is comfortable in the car, and loves the way it handles and gives you that bare bones feel. The only thing she has to do for herself is just manage her hair and make sure she's dressed for the weather of the day.

She goes to anything I ask her to go to. She's been supportive of my racing and involvement with my business over the years. She's not much of a hands on wrench girl, but that's okay.
