15" Tire Selection
Our choices for 15" street tires keeps getting smaller and smaller. Using 235/60-15 and 295/50-15 on the TireRack.com site, I only come up with three choices, BF Goodrich Radial T/A, Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 or Goodyear Eagle GT II.
The Firestones are rated the highest at 8.1, Goodyears are lowest at 6.65. Goodrich are 6.9
Can anyone offer any suggestions on these or possibly other suggestions for 15" tires
thanks
Paul

I agree, these should be considered (more expensive than the other 15" tires listed, but a much better tire).

Here you go Paul, if you act fast they've still got some Avid's in the 295/50 size

I have Dunlop GT Qualifier. Couldn't tell you were to get them though. They seem to be pretty good tires.

Paul, grab those Yokohama Avids. They have been discontinued apparently due to low volume sales. I had em on my last cobra and I bought a set a couple of months ago for my new ERA that is 'almost' done. Great street tire and OK for casual track use (serious track use - get a set of racing tires). RD

JB, what tires did you get? I'm thinking about ordering 4 of the 295 AVID's myself. So I know I have tires for a couple years.

Hi Fsst
I have been running the Avids since I got my car. They are great street tires. They are true, compliant, and don't beat the heck out of the car from stones flying as much. The rears definately take a beating, so I figured I better have some extras while I can get them. For the $ they are a bargain, and never a problem.
Get them while you can

I just ordered 245/60 ($66) and 295/50 -15's ($96) Avids from OnlineTire.com they have very few left in stock. They also have "Hercules" brand tires in those sizes (I believe they are Cooper tires) and was told they have hundreds of those. It appears if 15" tires are decreasing in quantity (and we know the quality is barely adequate) the only alternative is to buy 16or better yet 17" wheels in the future. I do like the look of the fat sidewall 15" look... but

I was thinking the same thing. Since i haven't bought wheels yet. I'm thinking that I am better off buying 17's now rather than later. 15" tires are decreasing in options and 17" are multipying! I don't want to be stuck with BFG's because I didn't go with 17's from the get go.
