Default How Many Cobras in Missouri?

Greetings Folks;

I'm curious to know how many cobra owners reside in Missouri. I've personally met three different owners. I know there are more.

Please reply with your name and home base. Who knows, maybe we could arrange to get together.

I'll have mine in a week or so. Just a short ride on Hwy 44 from you - in Eureka.

Hi Mark;

I see from your pictures that you're getting your car through Dynamic in Ohio. We did too.

Now if we can just locate a few more Missouri owners.....

Bryon,

We've probably got 40+ Cobras and slightly a few more members here in KC alone. Every kind, Kirkham, ERA, FFR, Backdraft, Lone Star, Contemporary, even an original street car in the club. Hurricane is located just up the road from me in Lee's Summit and one of the foremost FFR builders, Richard Oben, is in Gladstone.

Hi Bernie;

Thanks for the response -- I had no idea that the KC area was such a snake pit. Are there any established activities that this group participates in?

There's a show in Kearney, Mo this coming weekend. I hear from the organizer that numerous cobras will probably attend.

It would be great to get to meet some of you.

Bryon,

Most of the weekends in the spring summer and fall we have multiple events going on each weekend. We just had our Ford Funfest a couple of weeks ago with a big show, swap meet, and drag races at KC International raceway. We've even gone down and run the old Lake Garnett course where I first saw the Shelby team with Ken Miles racing back in 1963. We have a diverse group of waxers and racers and you can always find someone to buddy up with. The MidAmerica Cobra club meets the second Saturday of every month. Here's the club website. Not too up to date right now but we're working on it. Most of the stuff we do is transmitted through e-mail.

Default STL Cobra Club Anyone?

Sounds like you KC folks have your act together!

I live in STL and am about 1.5 years away from acquiring my BDR. I have met several FFR folks at local cruises and car shows as well as 2 SPF owners, a midstates owner, etc. So many snake owners are around this area also.

After talking with STL Mark, we both agreed that we need a cobra club for the STL or eastern MO area. Since I need to do something "snake oriented" to appease my appetite until I have my ride , I would be more than happy to organize the group. I can envision local cruises as well as get togethers with the KC group also.

Anybody out there want to help me to get this rolling?

Chuckster;

That would be great if you could devote some effort toward organizing something!

Byron,

PM me sometime and we can chat about some ideas. We need to start developing a list of owners/ enthusiasts. CC is a great start. Good to see a snake down in Rolla. I am a Rolla grad and know the city all to well (even some long forgotten gutters

Byron:
And actually, BeanCounter understimated a bit. We have 75 Cobras in the Mid-America Cobra Club alone, and amongst the members, we know of at least another 25-30 more within 100 miles of KC who aren't members. In addition, at last count there were 5 original 289 Cobras in KC, and I think 3 original 427's. If I am off on that count, CC member A-Snake can probably fill in the correct numbers, as he owns one of the 289's.

Needless to say, there are a TON of Cobras over here on the west side of the state. I cannot tell you the last time I took my Cobra out on a nice day and didn't run into another one at some point during my cruise.
