61Ace,
That really does suck! I can understand how Lynn might have found out about the car, but how did he track down the owner? I am wondering if after the owner decided to sell the car, he started to check around and someone said to call Lynn to find out info/value. If Lynn tracked him down, I would think it would be in Lynn's garage already! As for coming up with the money, if the info that is available is correct (ie parts that go with the car), I would have driven down and paid very close to 10K for the car as is (10K for a title-no; with the Ace unique parts-yes), but I am also just finishing a very similar Ace (finally in paint after 7 years) and so know what would be in for. Again, sorry to hear it fell through, it is a great project and sorry to see it get away.
Jay
PS I also did not contact Lynn, but was planning on seeing if you wanted to sell it after you got it home and inventoried the parts.

If Lynn buys the car I think the title will be 'safe'. The chance of the title being used for fraudulent purposes is significant. Someone like Lynn, I could see buying it for no other reason than to 'protect' it from fraud.

61ace, that is very sad. AEX chassis plate is an AC engined Ace exported. $10K for the title and some body parts is OK, but as stated any restore will cost a small fortune. I have just finished an Aceca restore and just half way through my Ac Bristol restore. It is basically like buying another house.
Would have been the buy of the year at $1500, $10K ok (but getting high), anything over $15k would be getting hard to swallow.
Changing the subject if anyone wants to know about Ac Bristol history, give me a shout I have spent an age sorting out the history on my car and have some great sources of information.
Shame someone told Lynn and then told the owner [again not me], looking at some of the chassis rails in one the pictures, not sure that the chassis is fully original and this would be the important point.
Anyway, lets hope it goes to a good home and does not turn up as a 1959? Cobra at some stupid price!
John

incase anyones wondering what happend to this,
289ace asked me to take him to see it which i did,
set him up with the owner and 289ace promised me a finders fee but in reality he came back a few days later behind my back and picked it up so he wouldnt have to give me anything (it was his idea to give a finders fee)
which is why i now know where 2 356 converts and a coupe are and dont plan on telling a soul

Easy there ng8264723 until you know the facts.
61 Ace,
PM or call the number I am sending to you via pm and I'll get some money going your way. BTW it was not "a few days" but much longer and I did not keep contact info for you as I did not think it would ever come to pass. We both know much of a flake the guy was.

Oh that is a pretty low act, sounds to me like we might know who put the higher price tag in the original owners mind.

I've had dealings with Jay for a few years now. I PM'd him to let him know about this.
I'd be really quick to point out that he's not the kind of guy that's being portrayed by one side of the story. I'd also ask those that don't know anything about it to stay out of it. Especially with unnecessary and unfounded remarks.

This saga is more than 2 years old. The 2 players have made recent contact.
That's good enough to close this chapter
thanks
