AC Bristol "Barn Find" (really?)
What you guys say: AC Bristol? Fakey do? What we got here?
http://forum.ih8mud.com/showpost.php...&postcount=111
Rumor has it: 1961, 19 cars before Shelby. Secret buyer says the guy wants $1,500. Hmmmmm....

Don't tell me: First $1500 takes it!
Odd. Front fenders are flared, but rears are not. I thought hood latches were a Shelby item. Perhaps an AC someone tried to Shelby-ize?
I'd like to see pictures w/o the bikes in front of it. What side are the pedals on (and where are the rest of the parts).
That being said, I would have already paid the $1500 and dragged it home---much to my wife's distress! Even if it's an AC prior to Shelby, it'd make a nice project to get it back to AC Bristol condition.

We have somebody local here that has 2 Ace's ( both are stunning) and the later of the two has a slight flare to the front fender. I've never seen them together, but I saw them both this summer and there were some differences, which I guess is to be expected from hand made cars that are 40+ years old.
I'd give him $1500, but he has to throw in the cooler.

Just a footnote:
I have nothing to do with this car other than some kind person sent me a PM and asked me to post the link to it. Follow the link and contact 'who ever' if your interested in following up on it.
Good hunting!

Many Aces were "Cobraized" in the 60's. Some with small block Fords or Chivvies, some with fender vents (like this car) but the are still AC Aces and can be saved (can I get an Amen? ) so if the frame and the chassis number are intact, yeah, $1500.00 is a VERY good buy.

A little "photo enhancement" to get a better look at the innards...
...here is what is visible of the frame...
tough call.

Yeah, I agree with Rick. You can see the patch running the length of the rear fender.

There is $1500 bucks worth of hood alone! So has anyone been in touch with Captain Caveman about this? It looks like the rears have been soldered rather than brazed.

If that is true how about some better pics of the pieces without all the stuff strewn about, come on.

We have no dedicated Ace section, but we'd love to see the progress.
You can start your own thread in the Build Thread Forum
A chassis serial number would help with some of the details if you want them.
You can also post fabrication questions in the Scratch Builders Forum

61Ace,
It looks like you have an even bigger project on you hands than the one I started with. Its tough to find much info on rebuilding an Ace, but there is an Ace section on the AC owner's club forum. Also, since I went through a similar restoration (although not as extensive and is still underway), I may be able to help somewhat. What chassis # number is it and was it a Bristol or Ace engined car?

PS well bought, I wish I had found it.
