FR500 Wheels
I am trying to do some planning before I purchase a kit (thinking Hurricane at moment) and trying to find out if I can get the wheel I want in the proper backspacing. The Hurricane website shows the Halibrand knock offs as 17x9 & 17x10.5 both with 4.5" backspacing. The FR500 is designed for the Mustangs and to make them work I would have to use some large spacers which I hate. Anyone know of a place that will do custom backspacing that has a wheel that is equal or similar to the FR500?

its not so much the fronts as it is the rear tires that need the spacing, ever think about doing a custom rear axle insted wider i mean. we run 18x9 fr500s in front 18x10s in the rear and a huge german Ibock adapter on the rear to makem work but i trustm.no problems

Hurricane recommends 4" on 17x8 and 4" on 17x10 so I think they should work. I was unaware however that there was an FR500 made in 10.5" that had a 4.5 bs. All the 10.5's I have found have been almost 7" bs? I could be wrong though
I don't kow if you are set on those wheels, but I am going with the American racing 427 cobra wheel in 17" on my hurricane. 17x8 up front and 17x11 or 18x10 on the rear. And they offer custom backspace so I can go 4 and 5/4" respectively. Check out the "vintage" wheels at www.wheelsforless.com. Seriously the best prices I've found and free shipping.

50resto.com has some deep dish FR500's but they are designed to fit 94-04 mustangs. I am not completely set and if I can not find these wheels in an offset that will work I will have to look at other options. I am sure I can for the right price get anything made but I am not looking for that. I want to got 10.5's minimum on the rear so I can run 315's on back.

Ya, 50resto has the same wheels everyone else has. they just wouldn't work without some crazy spacers
17x9 have +24mm offset = 5.44"bs (they say 5.85")
17x10.5 have +27mm offset = 6.31"bs (they say 6.84")
I don't know where they get their BS measurments, +24mm is +.94", 1/2 of 9 is 4.5" = 5.44". +27mm is +1.06", 1/2 of 10.5 is 5.25" = 6.31. But based on their offsets, it's even farther from fitting.
Mike told me I may be pushing the limit with a 17x11 with 5" bs but if I need 1/4" spacer that's not a big deal. To get a spacer that is safe at 1 3/4" you will end up paying upwards of $100 each. Just cheapy spacers that cost under $100 for he set will crack and are VERY dangerous on high hp cars. absolutely no wheel manufacturer would install wheels on your car without proper spacers.

Well I found a company that makes what looks very close to the FR500 wheel. They do custom offsets which of course is more than buying an off the shelf FR500 replica. But if you want custom you have to expect to pay a little more. http://www.autoworksracing.com/coupe...els%20page.htm

Rad, did you happen to get a quote on those wheels? I have seen those before, I wanted to use the gunmetal version on my mustang but I'm always shy of places that won't advertise a price. it's like they know it's rediculously expensive and they have a better chance of selling them if they don't advertise the price. Kind of like car sales.

for 17x8's they quoted 365.50 a wheel which that might be for custom offset. Not sure what their standard offset is. And that price was for any of the finishes. No break for painted over polished like some others. Still they only show 17x10's as widest. That might be to narrow for 315's? Most I have seen recommend 10.5-12 wheels. I am asking about wider wheels if they can make custom offsets and also what a 17x10 price would be. They are in CA so it might be a while before I get a reply.

Cool, My guess is that i will probably go with the American Racing 427 wheels. They're far cheaper and I can still achieve the look I want. These are the wheels I really wanted, but a at $545/wheel after discount... they're a little out of my range.
