holman & moody custom grind
hello, thanks, we have been trying to put this car back together since Mickmate helped to tear it apart in May.
we went with the next step up, the original LeMans cam specs. HM made a custom grind.
How far is your FIA from delivery? I would like to see it.
regards, karl

Good to see the car coming back together.
I don't ever seeing myself as owning an original cobra, but if I did, I think I would try to keep as many of the original parts as possible. But it seems your family is more into the practical side of things and upgrades and replaces parts as you like to get the most enjoyment out of it.
I'm just curious, was the motor you pulled out of the car the original motor? I know you told me that your family plans on keeping the car forever, but if you have the original motor, would you keep it in a corner of the garage for the future? Or would you just sell it as a used 289 to someone? Or maybe it will end up in one of your own cobra replica projects down the road, just to keep it in the family?
Do you keep the SAAC registry up to date on things like motor changes?
Have fun with the car!

almost finished
hello
yes, the registry is up to date on major and minor changes to the car. The new registry will have new photos and details. the 289 hi po was removed in '69 and a Boss 302 installed. The Boss was removed and a rebuilt 289 hi po was installed.
We did have to replace the passenger side foot box, the original radiator was replaced with a custom fabricated aluminum radiator with a rear shroud and fan. A few other small parts had to be replaced. The car needs to run normally and if a part needs to be replaced then it is replaced.
We should have everything finished and sorted out next weekend. Then it is off to the alum body guy for repairs over the winter. It should be painted and ready for the shelby convention next august in NJ. It will probably be painted the original color ....white.
Stop by any time you are in the area. regards, karl
