Default Cobra 1/18 model kit?

Does anyone make a good quality 1/18th model kit (ie not assembled).

Ive seen plenty of 1/24th, but would prefer a larger scale model.

Cheers

You may want to look on eBay for the Cobra 427 model made by MPC in 1/16 scale. The box has a blue car with white stripes. The kit was released back in the '90's, so it is not widely available, but it is worth checking out. It makes a nice built model.

The GMP product is awesome... but I think he's looking for something unassembled.

On the plus side.. yes GMP is very expensive, they will paint the car whatever colors you want for a little extra if I'm not mistaken.

Here's a couple of pictures (in my gallery) of a kit that I assembled from the aforementioned MPC 1/16 large scale kit. These can be found on Ebay from time to time. This kit has been somewhat customized by me and has a ways to go.

In the 80s one of the major model companies produced a large(can't remember the scale 1/18th?) blue plastic S/C car. Very detailed.
I can't remember the who made it.Monogram? Last I checked it was over $100.00 from a hobby shop and at the time they could order it. About 5 years ago.

For diecast, Kyosho may be one of the nicest. If you want a kit, you cannot get any better the the 1/16 MPC/ERTL 427 Cobra. Check ebay under... 'toys...models...automotive...cobra'.

Wink 1/16th Cobras on eBay

I found two AMT 1/16th model Cobra kits currently on eBay.

Auction #3301807924427 ends in just under 1 1/2 days and is at $15.50 USD. Note the ending three digits of this auction!

Auction #130169108201 ends in just under 2 1/2 days and is at $9.99 USD.

A company called MPC originally made the tooling for this kit and sold it under their label. The company was purchased by AMT/Ertl and they sold the same kit with their name on it. Ertl also put this kit out under the label ESC, which I believe was for export. I have at least one of each version, unbuilt, in my collection.

The Ertl factory outlet store in Dyersville, Iowa is a magical place! Any type of toy they make, from pre-school to adult miniature soldier figurines can be found there. I get there every couple of years and always find obscure stuff that never made it to the stores in my area.

Evers General Store (retail and mail order toys of many brands with lots of diecast, models, and farm toys) located in downtown is good too.

Good luck!
