Hehe. I guess he is not happy with the liscensing agreement his lawyers drafted? Maybe SAAC is worth millions and just hiding it from him?

Hey...if they are good business people, they would buy the classic volumes of the registry from SAAC wholesale and slap their own cover on it.
Just like aluminum cars.... whoa... ...did I say that? ..sorry.

Well, the "SA" stands for Shelby American, but didn't Shelby lose the "Shelby American" trademark to the company that got a controlling interest during the Series I mess and then that company went bankrupt. Thus the name change to "Shelby Automobiles" was necessary. I wonder who owns the "Shelby American" trademark now?

"I'm tired of them," Shelby says. "I want the registrations and the records under my control. They've made a lot of money but never counted me in on anything. I don't want my legacy to go down under their thumbprints."
His legacy would be better served under SAAC's thumbprint, that's for sure. At some point, one needs to consider not just SAAC taking care of his legacy, put putting his whole company under guardianship. He sounds borderline incompetent, at least to me. Except that he's basically been like that his whole life? You know, anti-rejection meds are brutal. Maybe they've taken their toll.

It's been pretty clear to me, the last many many pages, and I've said so, this is 'personal' with Shelby himself. He didn't consult with top aids, never told Amy, he simply contacted his lawyer and had them fire off a letter and file for the SAAC name BEFORE doing that! His latest statement confirms that. I still don't think it's about the 'money', thats a smoke screen. It's about power, control and what he feels is his legacy. Which in my opinion he's only screwing up, and has been for awhile!

Pete DeLorenzo's devastating column on the subject of Ol' Shel' in today's www.AutoExtremist.com is particularly insightful; especially so, if you've been around these cars for a few years. Badger

Well Peters review, quite good, DOES say it's all about the money. Maybe, my opinion still stands, it's about 'power' and 'control', the money will come in when he charges people through the nose to document their car! But I believe it's secondary. The money is what he will use to justify the take over of SAAC, but it's not the 'real' reason.

I cannot find the YOU TUBE interview with the lady. Shelby says he is willing to fight for 15cents although he has made his money. I think it was posted last week. Right out of the old man's mouth himself!

I could be wrong, but when I watched that video, I don't think that's what he said. I think he was talking about growing up during the depression, where people fought over 15 cents.
Edit: just rewatched it. What he said was "growing up in the depression was tough. And now, that you make a little money, you may go and poof off a bunch of money, and you still get in a fistfight over 15 cents."

Hey, it's not only business, it's also personal
EX'
EVERYTHING is ALWAYS personal with CS, all the time. Always has been and always will be.
It is sort of a way of doing business and doing personal oneupsmanship at the same time. Like most top racers, nothing new. But, not all. Not with Badger. Not with Dan. ALWAYS with AJ, plus some.
For instance, in the film clip he says something like this: "We learned that they were going to use the KR (or King of the Road) name and we grabbed that and put it on our cars first. That makes my day..." or the equivalent.
HOW he learned and from whom is not known by us, but he tells the story such that you must conclude that he "jumped their claim", not much different than a cheating silver or gold miner's trick against another unsuspecting miner.
But, he was certainly honest perhaps more than necessary when he claimed he was no businessman and no engineer. He's got that right. But, he figures his skills are surrounding himself with the best engineers and best businessmen. Well, if CS was a very good supervisor, that might make enough sense to accept. But, when he goes off the handle, many good engineers and good businessmen might rather take a powder than be required to take the abuse.
Perhaps some of his old pals reflect on the years of abuse as "battered employee" syndrome. Most publicly do not say so, but most of them have very fine manners in public; although i recall Badger cutting "Shel a large one at one of the SAAC annual events. And even at Boulder to a large degree. It was a joy to watch the Commodore squirm, because it was the truth. The subject was the importance of the kit makers to the history and continued interest in the cars.
CSX
Never thought about your intriguing insight, "...anti-rejection meds are brutal..." much, might be valid, don't really know, but i don't think CS needs meds to form a personal frame of mind. His thinking and phrasing don't seem any different than 40 years ago, except he might be even more impotent for success.

Amy was commenting on another site about being 'blamed' for the SAAC take over, it's clear she wasn't even consulted. I wonder how many managers/workers Shelby has done that to over the years! Left his own people twisting in the wind.

I treat a lot of 85 year olds. Many have brain atrophy, decreased cerebral blood flow, etc. and it shows in their personalities. Grumpy, cantankerous curmudgeons. The difference is they may or may not have been like that in their youth, and they don't have a posse of ambulances chasers, willing to file on any whim he chooses, so long as they can bill $450/hour ad nauseum to that $40 million dollar trust.

This is EXACTLY why it would be tragic for CS to gain access to the registry
Quote:
Last month, police in a Dallas suburb seized 61 cars from Unique Performance. Each of the 58 Mustangs and three Chevrolet Camaros confiscated had false vehicle identification numbers, according to police.

He can play it off like he didn't know that was going on... but please!!!! He knew damn well!

As if you don't charge more per hour to Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance carriers!
Not that that fact makes CS and his lawyers any more admirable, mind you.

I would bet he knew as well. Heck, his old legal buddy (Brent Fenimore) worked for Unique. -I wonder where HE is today.
Wonder how many of those cars with phoney VIN's are listed in the Shelby registration?
-And these guys want to be in change of ALL the paperwork? What a joke.
Ernie: I hate to say this because I kinda like Amy, but..................I'm not so sure if she didn't know what was going on here. She has said herself that her and CS talk about "business" EVERY DAY. -It's hard to believe that this never came up during one of those conversations. Good business people would even discuss how to "smooth over" the crowd. Crowds like Cobra owners here (I'm sure CS knows she blogs here), as well as current & former SAAC members. Afterall, they want as many of us as they can sucker, to join the new Team Shelby club after they put SAAC out of business - right? -Especially the people / owners that have cars in the current registry in which Shelby wants control of. He will want to be able to retrieve as much information from these folks in the future (about their cars) as he (or Amy) can, so they need as smooth a transition here as possible.
And who's baby is the new Team Shelby Club? -Amy's.
So why wouldn't she be advised / included in what the plans were in how to shut down the "old" club - SAAC?
-It would only make sense to me that she knew EXACTLY what was going on.

Of course the thought has crossed my mind Terry, but in this case I really don't think she knew. Thats based on the brief history of her posts here and on other sites (forensic text analysis ). Her initial statements were concerning the licensing division did this to SAAC, true enough and she might have known that was coming. A KEY post of hers referenced she found out the very DAY the internet found out as it concerns filing for the SAAC name. She was reading the 'letter' that same day. The circumstances seemed plausible to me and I do believe thats the case, she didn't know. Bear in mind Shelby filed for the SAAC name about two days BEFORE the letter to SAAC came out. Clearly this was a 'hush hush' hurry up and get 'em kind of move. Unexpected? In hind sight, NO. Again Amy clearly mentioned Shelby has not been happy with SAAC for some time, in a couple of posts. This is why I speculate Shelby 'jumped on SAAC' not out of money, or even power and control, he was just 'pissed off' more than anything. And has been mentioned, his lawyers were more than eager to give battle right now, lets keep it quiet, no need to talk to ANYBODY. Terrific legal advice, short on PR big time (but then PR doesn't pay there fee).

This, from the SAAC Forum, made for some interesting reading. I have tried to google as much of it as possible and have yet to find a hole in what was written. End of day, it's all just very sad. I really find it hard to believe Amy was a doe-eyed innocent in all of this. She RUNS one of his companies for gods sake!

Amy also acknowledged, she IS the public figure head, she WILL get the blame, that comes with the job. And thats right, she WILL have to take the heat, regardless of what she knew and when she knew it. She's playing with some real sharks now, I suspect this is a heckuva wake up call for her as it was for many of us.
Her posts certainly seem plausible, I guess some would say it's 'plausible deniability', I'm not ready to conclude that at this time.
Man, if there is smoking gun here and Amy is left holding it, whew, what a drag! I mean is there NO ONE you can trust within the Shelby camp? And these people want to control the REGISTRY???
