Shel's fellow Texan
Ter
Well, Amy cannot prove a negative, so for the moment i would keep my personal powder dry on that. But you ask very proper questions, imo.
Like many here, i would like to see her succeed, as she has brought both facts and authority to this thread and others.
Notice that Mr. Shelby is quite supercillious (or genuine, depending on your POV), regarding how Amy is in-charge and "runs" things. He's only along for the ride? Not a businessman? Not an engineer? Just human resources manager?
Anytime i might hear a shrewdie like Shel' announce in such a global way that i was in charge, i would start looking around for a crowd coming our way with a rope and seeking a suitable nearby tree limb. Some folks might call it Amy's battle-field commission. i call it Shel's responsibility abandonment. Commodore Carroll has gone down with no ships.
He doesn't often telegraph his punches and leaves few traffic holes unfilled on his way to the finish line. He is very very smart, folks. And crazy like a fox on scent. But, we all know that...

If Amy ever makes a sharp turn or comes to a sudden stop Ernie is going to break his neck.
How many time on this couple of threads have you spouted off about "Amy didn't know" "Amy didn't know"....
Fact is YOU DON'T KNOW! None of us do for sure so grab some kleenex and wipe the brown stripe off your head.
Wait and see what happens. Speculate and discuss but quit trying to create facts through repitition.

By the time this is all over, Shelby's precious "legacy" will be on par with Leona Helmsley.

I SUPPORTED Shelby when this thread started, until the EVIDENCE showed other wise. As I've have done for many people since I first logged onto Club Cobra (even Evan AKA "TK") I'll wait for the evidence (compelling testimony, documents or whatever) on what Amy knew and when she knew it before I take a negative stand on her character. Heck I even took some serious heat for defending the K brothers at one point in time, still do...
IF she knew before hand, lend me a torch, I'll bring the rope.
I believe this was Amy B's last post on Club Cobra.:
Quote:
Let's start over, I did not mislead anyone. I am sai and CSL cancelled the license. I knew the license was not being renewed. But I didn't have the perticulars, just that letters were sent and never responded too, even today still no offical response just the public posts.
I am not Carroll I do know he has been unhappy for years and a licensee should consult a licensor on the like all thing, even some things , anything, or even ask if he is happy with the way things are. etc, Somewhere in this someone forgot to check with the licensor and make them part of the process. And when Carroll has said he was unhappy, maybe someone should have delt with it instead of ignoring him. I have said from the begining all it probably would taken was a return call .
|
She is a VERY good PR person, or she's telling the truth, I for one believe her, until the evidence shows otherwise. SAAC states that they did in fact respond to the letter(s), by contacting Shelby attorneys directly, not by calling Amy, and why SHOULD they call Amy?

Ernie: SAAC didn't contact Amy because Amy is not an attorney. I'm sure CS wants / wanted everything to go through his lawyers..........especially leading up to a hostile takeover.
Amy is in charge of putting Team Shelby together. Why would she not be included in the plans to dismantle the competition? If I were her and Shelby & his attorneys were doing their best to piss off all the other members she wants (actually NEEDS) to join HER club (especially those listed in the current registry), and doing all of this BEHIND HER BACK,..........well, heads would either roll, or I would submit my resignation.
What about what she was accused of doing to all the Hot Wheels clubs prior to coming to Shelby? Has anyone varified this yeat? -Seems to be too much of a coincidence to me.
I don't know (and that's just it........I DON'T know). -Hey, I hope I'm wrong in all this, but it sure is hard to swallow.
.......I'll go back to trying to dry my powder now. I keep blowing on it but it just keeps wanting to spark! Maybe I should just pour a bucket of water on it instead.

Terry I'm with you on this one. I also don't know what did or did not happen but let's face it, this isn't IBM or General Motors, it is a relatively small company. It is difficult to believe that the President of one division doesn't know what's going on next door. This is all the more difficult to understand when what is happening next door, has a significant and direct effect on the President's new pet project.
One way or another Amy has been placed in a very difficult situation.
Someone is going to have to go out and get some more popcorn.

I agree with xlr8or. Who knows what Amy knew or didn't know in this mess. She may claim ignorance, but I've always been a fan of the X-files..."trust no one." I think for many people, the legacy of CS is evaporating quickly.
Assuming this thread hits 50 pages, does the thread originator get some sort of prize? Maybe a set of Ginsu steak knives.

If he's lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but he'll bounce right back, he always has........
But my guess is, it will NOT hurt the sales of the new generation of Shelby Mustangs nor the 4000/7000 series cars.............
I really think the people that care enough about all this mess is the 2000/3000 series car owners as well as the 65 thru 70 Shelby Mustang owners........
My mind was made up about CS when "he found all those forgotten frames" behind a wharehouse in the 90's, not to mention talking to "old school" Cobra and Shelby Mustang owners thru the years, especially at the SAAC events!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With so many divisions within the Shelby companies I'm surprised they don't have a singlular 'spokes person' to consolidate their position. I'm guessing most have now been told to keep quiet, quit posting and make no 'official' public statements.

Wayne has found the answer
"I believe that some of the writers for the afternoon "soaps" are starting to take notes from this thread for an upcoming story line.
Wayne"
Wayne I think that you have hit on why this thread has grown so large and has become filled with so much intrigue. With the Hollywood writers being on strike they have plenty of time on their hands and can lend their creative talents to this tread.

An Editor from Hemmings e-Weekly has included in today's e-mail an update regarding the SAAC license. I may have previously missed the comment, but mentioned is a :
" partnership with the owners of BlueOvalNews.com "
with Team Shelby ?
MUSCLE CARS
Shelby not renewing SAAC’s license
In recent weeks, we told you about Carroll Shelby severing all ties with the Shelby American Automobile Club, which began nearly 33 years ago, when folks were still driving these cars on highways and byways to work.
Well, now Shelby has terminated the SAAC’s license. The club’s license to operate expires January 31, 2008, and Shelby has announced, for unknown reasons, that he will not be renewing the license. Not only is Shelby not renewing the license, but SAAC has also been served with a letter from Shelby’s attorney, Neil Cummings & Associates, on Shelby’s behalf asking for the return of all documents, materials, registry information, financial statements and merchandise to him.
It seems like a coincidence to us that this is all coming down as Shelby Autos recently announced their own new club, called Team Shelby, in partnership with the owners of BlueOvalNews.com
The SAAC has released a statement dated November 25, 2007, which says it is proud of its many accomplishments and is looking forward to a bright future. “One of SAAC’s most important missions is to protect the integrity of the marque against the dishonest, the revisionists and the counterfeiters. Over the decades, as a result of tens of thousands of volunteer man-hours, SAAC has amassed a comprehensive data base of information on each Shelby vehicle.” The SAAC knows a good attorney is going to cost plenty of money. It is looking for donations to its legal fund, said national directors Ken Eber, Rick Kopec and Howard Pardee.

The people who run the stangsunleashed, com site (which used to be s197shelbyoa.com) are turning their site into the teamshelby site.
They also run as a business blueovalnews, com and are involved in a handful of other less popular car forums.
teamshelby, com now redirects to the stangs site, said to change in January at the launch date.

Thanks Ron, which then leads to the another announcement, which I may have also missed:
Mid-America Ford performance and Shelby Meet to become official Team Shelby event in 2008

Mid-America Ford performance and Shelby Meet to become official Team Shelby event in 2008
Las Vegas – November 28, 2007 – In another bold move to continue as America’s leading automotive performance icon, Carroll Shelby and Team Shelby have signed an agreement to make the Mid-America Ford Performance and Shelby Meet the Team Shelby Nationals, which will be held annually in Tulsa, Okla. The pre-eminent Ford and Shelby show for the past 33 years, it attracts 30,000 people annually. As the new Home of Team Shelby, Carroll plans to attend the Inaugural 2008 Team Shelby Nationals on June 12–15.
“We formed Team Shelby to give all Shelby enthusiasts more ways to enjoy a high octane lifestyle,” said Carroll Shelby, founder of Shelby Automobiles and the first member of Team Shelby. “I’ve admired the way that Jim Wicks, Randy Roberts and David Apgar and everyone at the Mid-America Ford Performance and Shelby Meet have grown their event following this same philosophy. So instead of creating a new event, we decided to partner with the best and create a national Team Shelby event that would show just how much we appreciate all Shelby, Ford and Mustang fans across the country.”

Yes...that has been out there for about a week...
Jim Wickes' Mid-America meet has been a great Ford/Shelby event for decades.
Team Shelby will set up their tent there this year...and perhaps for years to come.

Most of this was also printed in the new Shelby magazine (the website/team thing, and the mid-america thing).

So is all this commotion good for the mid-america meet.... or is it bad? I guarantee you will see flocks and flocks of S197 cars, but how many of vintage stature?

I may make them bigger than they wanted to be.
It has always been a great All-Ford Performance event...new and old.
