Question Next Time

If you had the opportunity to "order" or "custom build" another Cobra with any specification you could, what would you choose? I ask this just to see what body/engine size/wheels/trans/hp etc. would come from guys that already own Cobras. For the sake of this, consider money as no object.

It might be interesting to list what you have now and what you would change to.

I'd do a Shelby 289 FIA in aluminum. Stroked small block - not a 351 - with Webers. Buggy spring suspension, FIA Halibrands, racing windscreen. Toploader. Aluminum interior. Time machine.

Would have one now if they had been making them in '98 when I bought my 427........

Default Missed my dream

I just missed my dream - I had the opportunity to get a new Superformance Coupe before they make a few changes and the cost goes up.
It was going to be Silver with stripes and the Roush 427SR w/carb and a Tremec 6 speed with .64 od.

Things just are not timed right at this time to drop all the money it would take away from other things....I've been reading this forum faithfully for more than a year now planning and dreaming, thanks to all of you for keeping all of our hopes up. One day I'll get this dream built.

That word has been haunting me. I can't justify it with 2 car payments, and a few other things that are financed. It is so tempting though.

You would have a good time in any cobra. Check out the 4sales ads on this site and cobracountry.com. I'm sure you can find a affordable replica that will blow your socks off.

I'd build the same car again. Superformance with an alum. Shelby bolck.484ci. This car is my dream car, I've waited 40 years to get it. Next time I would go for a hyd. roller cam and 11 to1 comp.

I think I will go with a Kirkham brushed arruminum w/polished stripes and
an arruminum 427 something. This will be after I get my second home in
Texas somewhere. I go shopping for the house this December (looking
north of Houston, San Antonio, and Austin area). When and if I pull the
trigger on the home I'll have a place in an area where one can do more
than drive laps around an island. Wish me luck!

Money no object? Kirham with KCM stroked 427. Black with titanium stripes.

Money in the equation - Superformance with KCM stroked 427. Black with titanium stripes.

And 3M protective film BEFORE I get 200 rock chips!

Can non owners chime in? I know what I would go with. EFI 460, Tremec TKO 600, Blue w/ white stripes and comp. numbers. BIG brakes from stock late model Cobra Mustang or Baer's. 17 inch polished all polished Halibrand replicas.

I am surprised there aren't more answers. doesn't anyone want a big block / small block swap?

I guess that it really doesn't matter what you have, they are very special to someone.

I have a 5.0 EFI stroked to 354. I would like to have a 358 EFI or a 408 EFI.
The 408 would be better for the street driving that I do. But a 358 at 7000 rpms would be something!

I would go with a Kirk, polished body, brushed striped, big letter Goodyears and probably a Man-o-War (351? alum.)with FI with most HP allowed by law. Don't get me wrong, I love my SPF and I can't get enough seat time now, and I probably don't use a fraction of the HP it has to offer.....but you asked....

It seems that the Kirkham is leading the pack of choices, with the Superformance as the best value?

Define 'value'. BDR puts out a pretty decent product from what I have read (being a SPF owner and all). Part of value to me is that when you put the key in the car goes. That statement in and of itself is loaded given that these cars are not massed produced and hand built, not to mention high performance. The engine of choice is obviously one of the largest questions one has to answer in defining value, reliablilty, etc. Knock on wood, no issues what's so ever with my SPF to date, just too cold to drive it lately....oh and gas prices...

Kirkham FIA, original suspension and Lemans top if I could swing it, aluminum windsor block b/s'd to about 427 ci. Brushed finish, painted Lemans and team stripes.

But with the price of the Lemans top and original suspension, I couldn't justify it this go 'round. But next time....
