First, pick up a copy of the complete guide to Cobras & replicas. Not sure what the current edition is, but go to www.cobracountry.com. You can purchase a copy through them.
Second, find out when and where your local Cobra enthusiasts meet. Drop in, and check out some cars. That's how I fell in love with the ERA 289 FIA.
Your post here will undoubtedly generate quite a few recommendations--all slightly biased. My own bias is for ERA, but I like Kirkham, SPF, Backdraft et cetera as well. It all comes down to how much you want to spend, and what kind of features you want (IRS, "genuine" vs. "replica", absolutely correct to the original body shape, et cetera.)
Check out some cars, ride in a few, meet some owners, hear their tales. Have a good time. Then, after you've done some research, pick your manufacturer and have a blast.
I've never heard of anyone being unhappy that they purchased an ERA Cobra.
Cheers,
DD

This question has been asked, and answered in detail, many times here at CC.
Do a search, read everything, then ask more questions if you still have not been able to make up your mind.

This is kind of like asking a stranger to pick out your wife for you. What appeals to him, may not appeal to you.

Talk about a loaded question. That's like asking what's the best computer to buy?
Fortunately, I come from the Information Technology (IT) sector and I always ask the client's a few more basic questions to frame my response to that question: I ask them what they intend to use it for, do they have a budget, and do they know what kind(s) of software applications they are going to run. After that, I can usually answer them.
So you do have something more basic to ask 'yourself'...
1) Why do you want a Cobra? (for me, it just looks plain sexy!)
2) What will you be primarily doing with the car (i.e. tropy shows, drag racing, street driving, autocross/race course, daily driver?)
3) Do you have a budget (real or otherwise?)
4) Are you concerned about resale?
5) Are you concerned about being as authentic as the original?
You have to be real honest with yourself on some of these. Getting a car (or building a car) like a Cobra isn't like buying a "new" showroom car. No warrarties are implied and no dealership to get major repairs done in some cases if you live in a remote area.
As you search this forum on each kit, keep in mind some or all of the questions. You'll no doubt have many more but the planning and research will pay off big for you in the end. All I will say is there's nothing that compares to riding around in one of these machines on the streets.
