WANTED: Senior moderator for Team Shelby website. Must be able to crap on any non Shelby discussions in the blink of a butthole. Must be able to reinvent history and ignore the total chaos in the automotive communities over any pending legal issues.

REAL 1
Some guys (not me) get satisfaction out of knocking what others have. There will always be guys like that unfortunately. We know who they are. Those guys need to tell Team Shelby that their first magazine contains a number of mistakes like the article referring the the Continuation Series as the "REAL" deal and their ads referring the them as such and that such statements are "elitist".

Maybe if you were nice I might have even let you take 4206 on the back straight at Watkins Glenn or take her for a spin since you live close by but you haven't been very nice soooo ...forget it!

Being that you only have 200 some posts I'll inform you this topic as been here long before you got here and will likely be here for a long time to come.

COMPUTERWORKS
Saying that a CSX4000 car is "a real Cobra" to an unsuspecting tourist in conversation is simply a boldface lie. We all know what they infer from that statement. Adding an asterisk-explanation about some rebirth 40 years later is just sort of back-pedaling.

ME
As far as not being elitist. Then what is the statement that since you only have 200 post a person isnot really qualified to make an observation?

ME
I am not going to look up the post where you said to me.....YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE A CAR! In return several people remarked onn that statement.

I would think they way Mr. Kirkham pointed out your behaviour would be enough to get you off this dead horse.

If I was fortunate enough to own your car. I would reply to people that it is a replica made by the same man that made the originals, Carroll Shelby. Your desperation to cling onto the shirt tails of those fortunate enough to own originals is pathetic.

One last remark for myself, because you are an elitist. If the car was my passion, and not sailing. I could easily cash out on my boat, and buy an original. It is just not my passion to own one.

REAL 1, You seem to be a fortunate person. Get off of the pecking order, and enjoy your good fortunes. I think Jamo said it best when he said to you....YOU JUST DON'T GET IT, IT'S NOT THE CAR IT'S YOU!

Mr. MC Mahon, you are a very funny man. ilmao at your creative and so a' propos artwork.

Dr. Rick, i don't see why he should be ashamed of a nice name like Allen.

We all have our crosses to bear. Carroll is no different. But, he hasn't yet learned to suffer in silence. It might help, of course, if he stopped building his crosses with pissoir-poor performance partners and studied indifference to their poor performance until they crash. It might even further help to pay the high performance partners according to contractual agreements.

Xlor8: Its obvious to me you like to twist things but I do like the "self absorbed weenie" characterazation for CSX owners that don't fall into line with what you think is a good suggestion. They call me elitist?

Johan: You mean they discuss this topic at the Shelby Collection too!

Imaginetofrolic: You sir are too lost for me to even comment on.

If you guys are still confused as to what I've been saying (which is the same thing Powersurge has said) please refer to www.SAAC.com . Its all there. Just read slowly or maybe out loud. It may help with comprehension.

Yawn.

All they say at the Shelby American Collection is that if they catch a CSX 4000 car vintage racing in their group they will quit. It has to be a car produced by AC cars. Seriously Evan, you would so enjoy this party and the cool cars. You should make plans to be there next year. They are not snobby at all. Very nice people. Very nice cars. Welcoming to everyone. It would probably be over an hour before you said something that offended someone to the point of violence. They are that nice !

Ron,

Why not? They are (and I am being serious here), the finest authentic reproductions on the planet. I think they need to be represented for what they are.

Saying that "no, it is a new car, made by the same guy that made 'em in the 60's" is far more truthful.

There is a world of difference in both those statements. And the second one takes nothing away from an exceptional example of the genre.

Which one you use is dictated on just whose fantasy you are trying to fuel.

Perhaps we can discuss over tea at the next SAAC convention.

This past July, my car, CSX4266 was INVITED to attend the First Annual William K. Vanderbilt Jr. Concours D' Elegance in Newport, Rhode Island at the Newport Mansions. The event was put on by The Preservation Society of Newport County. Dan Gurney and Sir Sterling Moss were in attendance to receive lifetime achievment awards. We accepted the invitation and made the trip knowing that we would not be in a judged class, but a class for exhibition only. We were told that this was the first time that a 4000 series Shelby Cobra had appeared at an event of this magnitude and prestige. The officials parked us right next to Paul Andrews fine collection of Shelby Cobras. Obviously, he won the Domestic Post-War class because he was the only entrant. He deserved it, too! My point is even though the 4000 series Cobras are starting to be recognized at shows like this, they still will NEVER be able to compete with the 2000 and 3000 series cars. Neither will the 7000 and 8000 series cars either.

That's real dedication, tow across the entire country for a car show. I wonder why they didn't invite Evan?

What am I missing here?

Slither comes a couple of thousand miles with an invite to this show and Evan is only 6 hours or so with a similar CSX4000 and he ain't invited?????

That's just plain wrong.

Here's my take... it doesn't mean anything but

The 4000 cars are genuine yes. They were built by the man amking them so. Yes, they are essentially replicas because they are IDENTICAL to the original. Do I consider them replicas.. no. Do I consider them "REAL"... no. I consider the 4000 and even the 3000 series for exactly what they are. GENUINE COBRAS. Nothing more, nothing less

As far as the auto companies stopping production of a particular car and then starting back up several years later. Yes this happens and no I definitely would not consider them replicas. HOWEVER, they are not building cars IDENTICAL to the ones they built several years earlier either.

Genuine... YES
Cobra... YES
Reproduction... YES
Continuation...YES
Completion... NO
Replica... sorta kinda, there's definitely a gray area(by definition, yes)

Lets call them what they are. GENUINE SHELBY COBRAS!

As far as SAAC vs Shelby, I side 100000% on the side of SAAC. Not only have maintained the integrity of the Shelby, they kept the hobby alive! They're also a 3rd party that has nothing to gain from a slip of a VIN. I think every original Shelby owner would agree. It's just too dangerous to the value of their prized cars!

That's my .02.

For clarity sake, the new Shelby Cobras are not identical in many many ways.
