Didn't I read this somewhere from the owner of a CSX3000 in response to your tired old rant on the Team Shelby site?????
"Sorry but I am a little confused here. This fellow has a CSX 4000 and yet he is calling somebody a have not.
Sorry bud but not everybody posts on Club Cobra."
IT NOT THE CAR EVAN......ITS YOU! (another 'Have Not' heard from!)

If future value in a car is your game than you don't screw around with anything but the real thing.
But you were told that a long time ago when you could have purchased a REAl original Cobra for almost what you have in your copy. You can keep hoping it will go up in value and it may but the real ones, you know the ones where no explanation or argument is needed will keep appreciating at a faster rate. That's just how it works. Why don't you see if an owner of a original Cobra valued the same as yours is willing to swap for a better Cobra?
You can keep playing this silly game of yours about what is real but the owners of originals just sit back quietly and laugh. They know what they got but you are only speculating on what you might have.
You know having a 2000 or 3000 gets you right in the front door, maybe not at the head table but at least they will let you watch what the real players are doing. Or maybe you can stay where your at and hopefully you can sneak in the back door years down the road when nobody is looking.( of course that's why SAAC put you in the book in the first place)

And to most honest enthusiasts the true pleasure of ownership is in the driving of the car, not the bravado speculation of future value or the "waxing" of the damn thing.
Not dragging it around in a trailer while trying to convince the unknowing it is an original because it is "real" simply because it was built under the same "name", not the same hands, 40 yrs. later.

Back on topic. I vote SAAC because they put the Kirkhams "in the book."
Team Shelby would probably not. I vote with my pocketbook.

At the end of the day, WGAS what is said to the "unsuspecting novice"? So, he walks away going, "Woooooooowwww, that's a real Cobra."---until somebody points out that it's a continuation series, and the person that mislead the novice is red-faced with embaressment.
For every unsuspecting novice, their will undoubtedly be several knowledgable enthusiasts. Imagine the embaressment of the CSX4000 owner when he intentionally misrepresents his car and is questioned in front of a small audience.
Case in point: Showed up to a Cobra event and purused some cars. Talked to one owner who had a nice Superformance. I asked him what was under the hood. His head up high, chested puffed out, "A 427!"
Astonished, I asked, "A side-oiler?"
Head down, shoulders slumped, "Uh, no. It's a stroked 351W..."
I could tell he felt stupid, and I even felt bad for the guy. He had a nice car and really didn't need to compensate for anything. I didn't show up in a Cobra, but I'm no novice, either. You never know who you're talking to.
Some poor schmuck tries to pass off his "genuine" CSX4000 Shelby as an original will suffer the same tail-between-the-legs fate.
However, I see no harm in telling someone (if I had one) that my CSX4000 was a real Shelby (it is. It's made by Shelby.) but I had better be prepared if I do this with my nose high and my chest puffed out as if I'm some rich dude that can burn $1M on a toy car, 'cause they may point out that it's a $120k continuation Cobra and my exceptional ego will be deflated.
It's all in the motive.
Anyone misrepresenting their Cobra, be it a replica, kit or a continuation series Cobra as an original Cobra deserves the inevitable embaressment of being called on their misrepresentation.
I've heard of guys at stop lights being asked, "Is it real?" and they answer affirmatively when they know they're driving a replica. Why? Even if it's a replica its a pretty damn cool car. Why lie about it?

Q: "Is it real?"
A: "Yep, it's a new one. Made exactly the same or (if it is true) better in lots of ways."
Not a lie. Not misleading. Certainly lawyers ought not call it misleading.
Q: "Is it Original?"
A: "Nope, it's a new one. But, it is exactly the same as the original. (Or, variously, it is even better than the original! Bigger motor! All Aly motor! More Power! Lighter! Better transmission! Less emissions!"
Q: "Is it a copy?"
A: "Nope. It is a new real Cobra from Shelby, made the same way or blah, blah ..."
Q: "Is it really a Shelby?"
A: "Sure it is. It is a new one, just like the old ones, (or) better in some important ways."
Viz: Owners of modern Shelby Cobras should remove the word Original from their vocabulary, i might suggest. It isn't helpful to themselves or any questioner, except to distinguish the degree of original design items chosen in the parts list. For instance, no originals were sold with a polished aly finish, that i recall. That finish wouldn't be original. (Yes, i remember that the first motor mag test car was repainted several times to hide the fact of its singularity.) Ventilated brake discs are not original. Double roll bars are not original, though they were fitted by a very few owners for latter-day SCCA racing when the rules changed safety requirements.
Current Shelby Cobras are certainly real Shelby Cobras. i don't see them as continuations or clones or extensions. Yes, they are different some. Some much different. Some identical or as nearly so as humanly possible. They are not originals.
Similarly, late 1960's, 1970's, 1980's and 1990's AC Cobras are real AC Cobras. (IMO, "AC" Cobras made by any companies after the AC Cars Limited [England] company's demise are not real "AC" Cobras and those companies were instructed by FORD [the current owner of the copywritten automobile name Cobra] NOT to call them any sort of Cobras. Ergo: The Magnificent SuperBlower, oft confused with the then asset owner's rather unconvincing presentation style.)
Explain again to me where the confusion lies in this classification?

The confusion lies in the fact that some people here just don't want to admit to the factuality of what you've written.

I have to insist now that the posts here get back on topic...
...otherwise we are proving that the thread has run its useful course.
"The Thread Killer" has struck again here, it seems.

Hey, you guys can have whatever opinion you want regarding the Continuation series Cobras as to whether they are REAL or replica etc.. whatever your motive. Its a free country. Candidly, I really don't care. There are many who try to twist what I've been saying, but I've said what I've said very clearly. Its got nothing to do with elitism, ego etc...Just stating the facts. At no time have I tried to pass my car off as an "original" Cobra and don't know any Continuatoin owner who has. When asked I tell people what the car is. Period.
There are some here that differ with myself, Shelby American, SAAC and other Continuation owners as to whether the car is a replica/reproduction. Thats fine. No hard feelings. To me its simple. The new Cobras are not a replica of a Cobra as they are Cobras. www.SAAC.com You can also ask Amy B. of Shelby Automobiles. She backs me on this. As SAAC puts it, the only difference between the original series and the Continuation series is the time frame they were made. I agree. Its clear most "have nots" have their own agenda and disagree. This is expected. No problem. When people ask if my Cobra is REAL, I without hesitation say yes it is, its a Continuation series Shelby Cobra (usually followed by a statement that SAI started building them again in 1997). If asked if its a replica, I without hesitation say no it is not and tell them what it is. Both truthful. I think the problem is non Shelby owners can't give the answer I give and be truthful at the same time. I guess that frustrates them. The answer is for them to buy a Continuation series or an original.
As to value. No question that the original series are worth substantially more and probably always will be based on their history. No issue here. One needs to remember that the originals weren't always worth what they are today and in fact many sat on dealer lots for years before sold back in the 60's.
No one knows what the future holds but the odds are better that a Shelby will appreciate than an ERA, Spf, FFR or any of the others will. I think thats a fair statement. In fact the current Team Shelby magazine chronicles the fact that Shelby cars have consistently gone up in value over the years. Truth be told if its a choice of putting my money on a Shelby Continuatoin series Cobra or replica like an ERA or the like I know where my money would go...hey wait I already made that choice having sold my ERA to buy the Shelby. You pick you car. I'll pick mine.

I will leave it at this...
Evan..since you say the same thing on all your TK posts (Thread-killers)
...it would be far more efficient to have the text saved and just paste it in to the post.
Less time..less editing.
...just a tip
thanks.
