There were a couple of nice 69 Camaro RS SS's as well.
I have always liked that event. One day maybe I will be able to go and see it for myself. I would bet it is a hoot to watch.

Thursday night (what I saw): There was a clean '70 396/375 Nova (silver) that went across the block last night for $50K. It was in a "well bought" range in the mid 30's, and in the last minute got ratcheted up to that higher level. Maybe has downstream potential within the sea of Camaros, Chevelles and Corvettes, but that's a lot of $$$ for any Nova. There was also a custom chopper that went for $25K...also very well bought (if that's your thing) considering the craftsmanship and customization. A non-matching numbers '69 Camaro RS 396 (blue) also went for around $50K. What would you rather have for $50K?....clean '70 BB Nova, clean (but not pure) '69 BB Camaro, or (insert brand) clean Shelby Cobra replica?
Always fun to watch...would love to see it just once in person. Tough to guess which cars get what cash...some of these buyers on the tube don't look like they could afford a Yugo. You have to have a good plan when you go there, and STICK TO IT.

I'm sure the seller of that car is not pleased. It looked like a nice car with a stack injection system.

Cobras generally don't sell well at BJ. Last year was all hyped up fo course, so 3015 and 3301 sold well. But forget selling replicas or continuation cars there, they never bring any decent money.
I think the problem with Cobras, is that you don't get the "hype" bidders. In a room full of drunk millionares, you can bet every one of them knows what a Hemi Cuda is, or what a Boss 429 is, but really, only people INTO Cobras know much about them. So that dude with a lot of cash that may have missed out on an earlier car he wanted, would have no problem impulse bidding on a Hemi cuda. But put a replica Cobra on stage, and forget it. It's no different that the dozens of street rods or customs that crossed the stage (and also didn't sell for crap). And a continuation car is no different. They don't know what they are either, especially with a more "grey" explaination.
I bet the guy with that FIA is still kicking himself. He had to lose his shirt big time on that car.

CSX 3294 belongs to John Reeves from OK. Nice guy. He and a partner own another street car conversion but not to the standard of this car. It would be difficult to tell it was a conversion without looking at the plate. Even the trunk was re-done.

CSX 4290 sold in the Pavilion for 70K or less. WOW. Some good buys this year. You can consign your car during the auction for 1,000 and 5-10 percent commission. You do get free passes though.

If it was glass they did a lot of work to the wheel wells and hood scoop. I'm quite certain it was aluminum.

Only you can go rap it with a knuckle and report back.
Reason I say... I don't recall the alum FIA bodies having the trunk bumps.
...and most all alum's have the side curtain ferrules.

the scoop looks like glass, as it is molded in to the body.

The fenders were thin like alum. but I have to admit I didn't rap on the fender. Thought it might dent. I just checked the BJ website. Yup, it's "glas. Huh. Sure was thin in the wheel wells though.

You don't need to rap the body. Aluminum and fiberglass sound very similar when being rapped. What you do is feel the inside of the wheel well lip. If it has a bead it is 99% of the time aluminum. If no bead it is fiberglass. CSX4027 is the only fiberglass car that replicated the wired edge

The CSX 7000 car was fiberglass. I checked when talking to the new owner on Thursday afternoon. The new owner knew what he bought and was very proud of his REAL Shelby (another Evan). He was well pleased with the low price and couldn't stop smiling and I REALly couldn't blame him. It was a very nice car.

Guys have glassed in wire or rod to get that "feel"
If there was a buyer, like was said, he got a helluva deal, regardless.
