Isn't Geico the company that doesn't want their insureds to use radar detectors?

Don, State Farm only uses your driving record and the type of car you are driving to regulate your premiums.

Well this is exactly what happened to me. I attempted to insure my VehiCross with AIG because I heard they were cheaper than GEICO. Everything went well and indeed they were cheaper. After I was accepted, I asked, "By the way do you insure exotic cars such as my Lotus Turbo Esprit?" The girl on the phone politely said no and I said no big deal, lets just go with the Isuzu then. She said "I'm sorry, we can no longer insure you." I asked why and she said because I own a Lotus. I couldn't beleive it. Being a bit older, I now have Hartford / AARP and they insure everything. AND, the insurance on my SportTrac and Isuzu droped by almost 50% from Geico's rate. If your over 50, this is without a doubt the cheapest insurance available.

I called AARP and was qouted $1500 more a year for 2 dailey drivers Dually truck and Suv.. was paying $1500 a year I am with AIG.. now paying $2700 (AIG) for 3 cars - 08 Accord & 02 SUV - 03 Ford Dually seems none of these companies are consistent form 1 person to another.. WE are well over 50 and clean driving records with no accidents but live in land of high premiums=South Florida, here if you move to the next zip code your premiums go up.. what a bunch of BS my son has leases and has to pay more for insurance due to that fact.. over $3400 a year for 2 cars--over 38 years old..

Look at AAA for a comparison on rates to other insurance companies. I insure with them my daily transportation and pick up truck, changed about 18 months ago. Also, I now have my other insurance needs with AAA
For those in the category, the AARP Safe Driving Course, is accepted by some insurance companies for a discount.

Just remember guys, CHEAPER isn't always BETTER.
Before you put your hard earned money down for insurance. Check out the complaint history (online with your local insurance commisioner) and see how the company you are considering fares.
Also ask them if your car is totaled, how do they arrive at its payoff value. Do they use low blue book or current retail value in your area. This could mean the difference of thousands of dollars to you.
You Don't want to skimp here.

I was thinking more along the lines of BBQ Iguana...
I always thought of Geico as the "pick up truck" of the insurance world. They cover people relatively cheaply, but don't expect true performance.
No telling exactly why they dropped you, that sucks man.

Oh...
If your Cobra is not a daily driver you can usually get quite affordable insurance from some classic car insurance companies. Hagerties however will not touch Cobras, but I am paying quite a low rate for my Mini and they are valuing me at $35K (complete custom car).

Sorry, I forgot a couple of things.
Also, ask them if you let someone other than a family member (designated driver, friend, boyfriend, etc) drive the car, do they extend your coverages to that person. Some companies immediately reduce your coverage to the State Mandated Minimum. If that is so, and your driver gets into a serious accident, after the minimum insurance is used up, guess who is next in line for a lawsuit? YOU! And you will have to hire and pay for your own defense attorney as your insurance company will not defend you.
You Don't want to skimp here, your family future and assets are on the line.
Read the fine print in their policy for all the answers, not doing so can cost you $$$$$$$$$.
