Ok, here is a picture of what I get when the site refuses to open or post a post for me. I have noticed that this seems to start happening close to 11 o'clock Pacific time on. I can go right back out from this to my home page and to any other sites with no problems. The first two green bars at the bottom come on as if it is going to post and then the other two take forever. I have let it set for 5 minutes per my stop watch and that is all I see. I can't stop it and refresh the page or anything and the process page is ok plus it says it is loading a post on the application running page.

Dam. I posted a picture of one of my attempts to post after it had set for about 5 minutes and it went on page 4. I can't access page 4 at all.. wonder where this will go.

Edit: Brent, this can't be my problem. When I posted this it showed it on page 5, which I had never seen come up before. Now I am on page 5 if the page count is correct. Also my post with the picture is on page 5 not page 4 as it has been showing.

Ron, this problem you are describing is very odd indeed. Your posts seem to show up fine and page 4 displays fine...at least for me.

Is anyone else having these problems?

Brent,

Page 4 is displaying ok for me too. It was Page 5 that wasn't showing up when I made the posts and I was getting page 4 and no post as it was on Page 5 which never showed up until later on. That is what is strange. No one else seems to have this problem and mine worked the best it ever has until you put the Nav Bar in and took it out. I have had nothing but weird problems from all of my computers since and just on this site. I can go straight from here to my home page when I have one that hangs like the picture shows and go to any other site with no problem at all. Over in the test section Jon posted that he was having some strange problems but not exactly the same as I am in a thread I started called my problems. I was trying to duplicate something that would start them and couldn't. I have initalized my router, and modem several times. I now have the router disconnected and am just using the modem and one computer and still with the same problem. I just don't know how to explain it any better. I wish you could see it happen. When it stops like in the picture I can let it set all day and it stays that way and won't time out or anything and the Task Manager applications says it is loading a post. A few times it has loaded the post, went to a blank screen and then ran the status bars again as if it was loading the post over. But there will only be one post. It is almost as if two different things are trying to load or open the post at the same time at times. I very seldom have this problem early in the morning. Mostly from 11 O'clock on. This is driving me out of my mind as it only happens here and only after the Nav Bar episode.

Edit: Ok when I hit Submit for this post it just started and stopped. Then the screen went blank for just a quick second as if it was reloading and the post went in. Have you any suggestions. I have cleaned all files from the computers over and over, did the router and modem initializations several times, tried just one computer at a time, and still have the exact same problems. I even tried using System restore and setting this computer back to three days before the Nav Bar was first put in. Shortof formatting my hard drive and reloading, I don't know of anything else to do and since it works great on all of the other sites I can't believe it is something in my computer. Is there anything in the registry that would be dedicated just to a particular site like this? I have looked but can't find anything.

Edit # 2: Brent, this is a line from Steve Parks over in the Lounge. "Yea Ron, I have had the same problems. It seems the new equipment is not as good as well had hoped. I know Brent, Jamo and Ron are working their butt off to get all the bugs out, but this site is really hard to navigate around in right now."

Other than the missing contributor icons, I am having no problems at all with the new site. I can open, and post pics and have had no problems with opening any of the threads. Just thought I would let you know, as it seems everyone is having problems.

The only problem I have is missing my gold cup and my silver star. I was wounded twice at the Gulf of CC and have nothing to show for it.

Keep up the great work Brent, Ron and Jamo.

I am NOT experiencing the problems like Ron61.

EDIT
Of course, when I hit the SUBMIT button for this post, the green tracking bar at the bottom of the page slooowwwwwly clicked from 1 to 4 green segments. Then nothing happened for 45 seconds. So I hit the SUBMIT button again, and it completed the save within 2 seconds.

OMG .... do I have the Ron61 disease? Woe is me

Warren,

It has steadily been getting worse. I couldn't even hit the submit button again and get mine to go in. I think I even saw where Don with his infallibale computer had a problem.

Edit: Brent when I hit the submit button I got the same thing Warren did except when I waited about 50 seconds and hit it again it told me I had to wait 90 seconds to post again. I went back to the forum and the post was in, but it still showed as being stuck on 4 bars.

I really liked using that drop down tool bar to get around. It now only appears on the main page. Once you go to a forum or a thread it has disappeared. I have to back out back to main page again then pick another forum. Can we get the drop down tool bar back on all pages as before?

Ron:

Consider using the Firefox/Mozilla browser rather than IE to determine if the problem is the same , or different, or ?

Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable

I believe the download version is still N/C or minimal

Don,

I have the latest version of Firefox/Mozilla already and have used it. I still run into the same things, but in the early mornings like now, I never seem to have a problem. Mine start around 10:30 or later when more people start posting. I will have to wait until the heavy usage hits to really see if I have gained anything from Brent's work.

Edit: The site worked great for me and faster than it ever has until the Nav. Bar was first added. Since then it has just been a myrid of odd problems. I have used 3 computers, several browsers, and tried everything I know, but once the load picks up I start hitting these weird problems. I guess I could take a day and format my hard drive on this computer and reload it and see if that helps, but since it works so fast on all other sites I just can't see doing that right now. I did have a problem on answering a Blog and I never had that before.

Ron

Bruce,

The silver star is gone because of all of my complaining. I got to keep the silver cup because it was for a year when I never had problems.

See, sometimes it is better to leave things as they are! Sometimes the squeeky wheel doesn't get the grease, but gets the shaft instead!

Actually mine is working pretty well today and I think Ron (CW) pretty well eliminated my computers as a problem this morning. Now mine will work and all the others won't.
I am actually able to get in and post faster now than any day since the Nav Bar was put in and it is about the time that I normally start having trouble as more people log on. Mine has got to work now as it is snowing to much for me to be outside.

Edit To Add: It is now 11:20 Pacific Time and I am still able to post without a single hang up so far. Some of them have acted as if they were going to hang and then it was almost as if another page opened and the post went in. This is the best day I have had since the Nav Bar was put in. Maybe whatever Brent did last night is on the right track. I am still having a problem in the Blog section, but that isn't important. I will keep on trying stuff until I crash the whole site and then everyone will have a problem and I won't be alone. LOL
