Hi Folks,
Has anyone ever seen exposed rear latches before, if so where can one find them?

Do you mean the exposed trunk lid hinges? I think the early Factory Five cars had them.

I have them on my replica as its what came with the kit but the pin in the middle of the hinge seems to walk its way out when the trunk is opened and closed and needs to be hammered back into place quite often and if I had to do it over it would be the canceled type hinge and nothing on the surface of the trunk.

I never used them on my replica when I had it as I had a cable that opened the trunk from inside the cockpit. Same for the hood. I then had well hidden manual opening for both just in case one of the cables broke or came loose. But in 12 years I never had a problem.

Dan,
Very interesting input. for that reason I will stay clear. Just wanted to know if they were an invented part for the simple reason of adding more chrome to the kit. I think so since my research doesn't show any exposed hinges on any original. They do look sharp though.

MV, They were installed on at least 1 early AC Ace (shown In Rinsey Mill's book original AC Ace and Cobra) and so I do not think they were invented for any kit. They also look very much like those on a Sunbeam Alpine/Tiger and if they are the same can be purchsed from a Sunbeam supplier if you change your mind. BTW, on the 2 Tigers and Alpine I owned, I never had the pin walk out.

Ok,
So maybe Dan's set was made on a Friday or a Monday (??) I do like the way they look. I will contact my Moss rep to see if he has a few hanging around.
Thanks folks.
