All 60's and 70's Muscle cars were and still are a great part of the American love affair with the automobile, especially to those people who grew up in the 1960 - 1970 era. They are all desirable, some more than others.

I had 3 (Australian) Chargers, my first 3 cars - very hard to find a good one now at a reasonable price.

IMHO the best looking Australian Muscle car.

here is an ad (I think)
http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au...ia/Charger.wmv

sporty ones had 302HP from a 265ci straight 6.
(and now CHI make heads for them!)

still haven't got over letting the last one go...

Unhappy good looking cars....

Interesting that with very few exceptions, all the cars mentioned were pre-1973. It's probably good evidence about how Federal bumper regulations
that came in play that year meant the end of good looking cars at least
until the industry was able to better integrate Federal-compliant bumpers into their designs and that took some time.

Embarassing, being a Ford guy and all, but #2 is...
AAR Cuda.
Helped a friend rescue one from a slow death drag racing. Beautiful car. Well balanced, clean and powerful with the 340 6 pack and pistol grip.
#1? My 'carryover' 1966 GT350. Clean lines, simple engineering. Get all the mechanical goods of the '65 in a better cosmetic package.

What is the difference between a Pony Car and a Muscle car?

Fourth post on page two of this thread, Russ Dickey defines the two terms very well.

I'll take a stab at this;

Pony car - So named because the car that started it all was the Ford Mustang in 1964 1/2. These are characterized by being a small car with 2 doors, 4 seats, long hood and short deck with performance aspirations.

Muscle car - Ostensibly started by the 1964 GTO it's characterized by being a mid-sized car with a more powerful full-sized car power train. Cars like it, the Chevelle big blocks, Torino big blocks and the like are what is normally considered a muscle car.

More recent, and more liberal, interpretations of these colloquialisms have resulted in many of the favorites listed in this thread. I.e. anything with a powerful motor being shown as a muscle car, including my own Boss 302 which is more like the quintessential pony car rather than a muscle car. Or the 427 Cobra which is more like the king of the sports cars. It's just that the word "muscle" is so what car guys are into that this probably happens.

Hope that helps, Steve (Pony car owner!)
